Maybe you could have rephrased that sentence to be "if Surfeur felt abused or bullied, I'm sorry to hear that" - a statement which, while not assigning blame, admits that you have some empathy for his feelings. Bullies ALWAYS think they are being funny when they taunt. Sadly, that is not true. All that happens is that their true nature is usually unmasked for everyone to see. Sorry to derail the topic again, but I had to say something. And, yes, I fully expect to get my first negative for this post...and, frankly, I'll take it. So, there's my example of expressing my strong and heartfelt opinions in a non-abusive manner. See how easy it is? |

You don' think I have tried even that to no avail. I am not a pinata for you or nyone else's benefit, my friend, so kindly climb down off my back. I will not and never will claim either victim hood or bully status. but the sneseless beating WILL strop, I WILL absolutely defend myself. i can point you at several targets, some have posted in this thread. Your "he brought it on himself" shows a complete disregard for another person's feelings.
I'm sure Surfeur knows that he annoys you with his supposed whining - but that does not justify the things you said in return. Your frustration at what you perceive as his inability to see your point of view does not mean you can be abusive.
You don't NEED to say anything. You chose to tell him to 'quit whining' or 'shut up'...when you could simply ignore him. He's not hurting you by expressing his opinion. But when you say derogatory remarks about his nationality you are hurting him without provocation....all because he got on your nerves?
I have no vendetta against you, per se. However, I have yet to see you retract a single hateful statement you have made.
I had hoped, as I am sure others had, that the reputation system would 'tone you down' a little. It doesn't seem to have had that effect.
Irrespective of whether or not you feel you bullied Surfeur HE feels that you did. So to reply with "he brought it on himself" is totally insensitive.
You could have replied as I suggested in my earlier post - or ignored the comment altogether...but no, you had to make a comment to put the blame on him.
By all means express your opinion but please do so without resorting to insults or put-downs. State your case, back it up with facts and intelligence and then maybe, just maybe, you'll get the respect you so often deserve. |
