Contribution Rules are long and complex.

The rules we have at the moment are really not that difficult (yet). I have seen things in this forum made by the Contribution Rules Committee which really made my Dutch head spin...

Yes I think the rules are not so complicated to understand even for foreign users. It's written in a simple English.
Maybe it could be a little bit more difficult for a beginner for the part of credits (cast and crew) but if we don't understand something either we can choose to make no contribution for this part or we ask help and more information to others but we don't contribute 20 profiles completly wrong because the personn hasn't read the contribution rules or want make what he wants...

I know for some special point we can have some discussion (plot on some Belgium DVD with both languages) but for Edition, box set, ... There are no discussion to my mind...
Regards
Cyrille

Anyway, Contribution Rules are roughly 6,500 words, and there are many things to understand and remember.
I think a short "checklist before contributing", some 500 words or so, would be useful for newbs and even for experienced users.
And it would be easy to translate too.

I agree 100 % with you Cyrille, not less that this morning I refuse 14 Contribution for only one guy, that taking much time, whe nerver know if the contribution are rigth or not with more than 4500 films, I cannot have all those title of DVD in my memory, The big problem are wy removing corect studios, wy contributed a personal overview, Video formats, Title uncorectly written, etc..., and the Question wy not read the contribution notes before, they are not all new entry. first you must checking if the change are ok or not , maby it could be,  then give your reason wy you vote NO, and the same for all it take me this morning about one hour and a half. Its are so simple if you see something to be change first cheking the profile and then make your contribution. Nobody like to have his profile of course if tey are good , Erased!!!!! And also not forghet the work of the proffessionals from invelos. I realy dont know if some peoples understand that?

The problem with the new user is now settled with exchange of PM without any angry or offense. The user has been forgotten to read the rules so now it's done and we hope he will join us in the French communauty and maybe here too if its English is good enough.

Just a little suggestion to avoid a such type of mistakes/misunderstanding: when a new user begins he should only have a limited number of possible contribution per day (or week, ...) as for the system of reputation and if its contributions are corrects and have a good feedback from the screeners of DVD Profiler, its number of contribution increases step by step to finish to have an unlimited numbers.

So it could be a good meaning for the user to familiarize himself with the system of contribution and also to avoid to have a lot of wrong contributions at the same time. We could "educate" it at the beginning if he makes mistakes.

What do you think about it?

Cyrille
