Bonjour,

Hello to Belgium!
Even if you feel that it's a local (French speaking) affair, it would be nice to read your post in English. This would enable many other users to participate in this (rules-) subject!

Eh? Rules in French? I think a translator first needs to fully understand the program and the English language, because I know from experience that a translation often depends on the interpretation/understanding by the translator. The less a translator knows about the things he translates, the more mistakes by the translation users will be made.

They used to be available as link to a pdf file here. Maybe Runmovies downloaded them at the time, as the link is now dead.

For other users, a summary of the intervention of Runmovies.
Some new users (Francophone for our case) seems not reading the contribution rules or don't understand them but we (the French communauty) have translated them to help people doesn't speak English.
We can make an error one time but when the same user make several dozen of contribution with the same errors (no source, no contribution notes, number of DVD in the edition field, ...) it's a signifiant sign of wrong willingness.
So of course we vote NO but we lost time to indicate the reason of the errors, ...
Some new user want to impose their point of view without consider the existing rules and the time was necessary to build the Invelos database the most accurate as possible.

The conclusion of Runmovies was that the quality must be the first priority in front of the quantity.

PS: the translation was available in the previous version of the "French forum" but now the pdf isn't available. I have still I think the old version but there are too many changement since this version so it must be redone.
It's true the translation isn't the best solution because there is always some personal interpretation by the author but it could be a good start for beginners. The best will be the new user ask question even in French in this forum or in the French forum and we could try to help them...
Regards
Cyrille

Sorry I writte en français in place of en Anglais. Mea Culpa. I will Change that !
I writte this post, not to be Ironic  but just for the respect of the good contributors who's working very hard to have a good data base. And they are many people whos make  a verry good and great job.

I know for the rules in french, but they are still some old rules comming from the old DVD Profiler in french translated whos can helping , many change have been done, but some rules stay the same.
Of course they are certainly not easy to translate and sepcialy rules. But when you writting to people one time, 2, 3, and no change are comming thats a non respect over the contributors.

Thanks To Kahless for the message : Reason My english are a very bad thing, and I'm scared that someone will not understend what I mean, but you are right, The post I writte are about the rules that some people do not understend, and also that many people working very hard to this database, and that the notes from the contributors are very important to read before make a contribution,  and the most important are the quality not the quantity. i'm sorry that's resume what I writte in my post. I hope you will agree this for explanation, i'm just trying to do my best.

Anyway thank you for yours interest.

My apologies for my very bad english.

I agree 100% with you, this is not the first time that I say it, the rules are not perfect but we have to follow them. The fact that an accurate french traduction is not available is not an excuse, the english text is not that hard to understand (I think I know since this isn't my first language and I have no problem to understand them).

It's better you write in bad English, because most of us here are bad in French.

No reason for any kind of apologies. I can understand your English posting very well. You would be really embarrassed, if I would try to answer in French.

As we can see in this forum, even if someone would not be able to post in English, he can find many "helping hands" to translate to/from his native language!

That's very true. Besides, Contribution Rules are long and complex.

Maybe an easier project would be some kind of "Unofficial Essential Guide to Contribution" with a few key reminders before contributing (and of course a link to the complete official text). The forum community could come out with those essential, simple, key points and then they could be easily translated into other languages...
