Great timing! I'm just putting the finishing touches to my new tool OverviewCheckPlus. It is a major improvement over my old OverviewCheck tool, and most of the improvements were possible thanks to HTTPJolie!
Major kudos to mediadogg!

You'll see OverviewCheckPlus soon in this forum.

HTTP Jolie is crashing DVDP and if I try to cut off the plugin, it locks up DVDP and I have to force quit. DVDP starts fine if I don't load any plugins. Help.

Alright, I got it uninstalled, but I had to go through Windows Apps to uninstall and now DVDP is working fine again. The choice to not load a specific plugin through DVDP will not work for HTTPJolie.

Are you using the latest version? I had that problem with an earlier version, but 1.20 has worked fine for me.

Yes, I just installed it today. I tried an earlier version before and had the same result.

I know of another user that is having a similar persistent installation issue. I wish I could think of a way to easily uncover the difference between the environments of the couple of us that have it working, vs the couple of us that don't.

But I do appreciate the patience of all concerned, as we try to figure it out.

This reminds of a an issue, years ago, involving incompatible versions of Microsoft settings files. I recall that it even was dependent on the order of plugin installation. Very tricky to debug.

By the way, what does "go through Windows Apps" mean? I am not familiar with that process. Maybe just a terminology thing ...

Marty,

Did you ever have an earlier version of HTTPJolie installed? I have found that in some cases things can go awry if a previous version of a program is not completely removed. And just regular uninstall does not do that. I use Revo Uninstaller. it's freeware. It removes leftover files and registry entries after doing the uninstall.

It won't work after you have done a normal uninstall, so I'd recommend that you reinstall HTTPJolie, then uninstall it using Revo, so the next time you install it again, you are doing it into a "virgin" environment.

No guarantee that it will help, but it might. It's worth a try.

I have to disagree on that Gunnar. I have spent significant time making sure that doesn't happen. All dlls, executables and registry entries are wiped out. Only exceptions are the user data, logs and such (which can be deleted simply by deleting the install folder)), and settings saved using the Microsoft settings API (which is an xml file somewhere in AppData). That's why I mentioned it. Each time one of my plugins gets installed, the installation script first removes any and all prior copies. If you ever find anything different, I will consider it a bug and fix it.

OK,  It was just my experience that almost all programs that I uninstall turn out to have left something behind.

I understand. And to make matters worse, DVD Profiler remembers plugins - actually each installation instance. And if you change Guids, all heck can ensue. So, a few years back, I focused on trying to make uninstall iron-clad. Of course I got some help from Karsten. Not saying I got it perfect, but since then, that has not usually been the source if issues with my plugins.

Sweet. Yet another way to do things. I usually get there by using the Control Panel and navigating to uninstall programs. Both of those will lead to the same result as running "unins000.exe" from the plugin install folder (created for me by the popular Inno Setup tool, the same one used by Invelos for DVD Profiler installation).

HTTPJolie Updated to Version 1.21

This version I think will fix the long standing installation bug. It registers and distributes a tlb file, which accesses some COM resources. Turns out that anybody who had installed the MYTools plugin did not have that issue. That's why GSyren was not having the problem.

Looking forward to more folks having fun with HTTPJolie. It can do amazing things, and I have a long list of other goodies to put in.

Here are some examples of the most recent goodies (the results appear in real time):

Change the profile ID of a currently selected profile. This example changes to a discID with locality Spain.
      ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="pid"&dbdata="I0123456789ABCDEF"&dataloc="spain"

Clone the current profile ID to a manual profile.
      ?cmd="clonepid"&pid="current"&newpid="M9999999999999995.3"

Change the profile ID of the current profile to a manual profile, but also keep the original.
      ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="pid"&dbdata="M999998"&dataloc="argentina"&keepoldpid="true"

Make a new alternate profile from the current profile.
      ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="pid"&dbdata="alternate"

Change the title of the current profile.
      ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="title"&dbdata="new title"

Append something to notes (same works for overview)
        ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="notes"&dbdata="append this"

Replace overview with contents of a file (same works for notes)
        ?cmd="setdata"&pid="current"&item="overview"&file="\\myserver\data\newoverview.txt"

Keep in mind that these commands can be sent from anywhere in your network - from a browser, or from a program, from any operating system - desktop or mobile. Oh yeah!!!!!

And you can have as many copies of DVD Profiler as you want, running in your system, and send commands to them independently. For example, on one system I have a copy of DVD Profiler just to keep the Headshot Master DB. On another system, I have my "movie night database". You could write an application that pulls and pushes data from multiple copies of Profiler, and combines it all into some mega presentation of movie / actor statistics and images. Be still my heart.

Thanks mediadogg, I have gotten HTTPJolie Version 1.21 to install without crashing DVD Profiler.
I seem to have HTTPJolie Version 1.21 running correctly in it's TCP mode.

@ mreeder50, I hope it does the same for you.

My next step is trying to get HTTPJolie Version 1.21 working in it's HTTP mode.

@ GSyren, thanks for all your HTTPJolie debugging work. Once I have HTTPJolie running in the HTTP mode, I look forward to using your compatible plug-ins.
