I have a large stack of BDs that have never been added, rather, the movies are in the database, but not the version I own (some imports, some domestic). I would like to use an existing version (to keep the actors, etc.) and then change the UPC - but I can't find where in the item profile that the UPC is listed, so I can change it. So …

1) Where do you go to edit the UPC?
2) Is it better to add the item by the new UPC and hope someone transfers all the cast/crew info?
3) The system doesn't seem to like when you enter the EAN on an import (one too many characters). Sometimes it asks "use anyway?", sometimes it just won't take it. I guess this only applies to "add by UPC", but I'm not sure … Thanks for any help .,.

Be sure to change the locality to match that of the BD. If you change the locality, edit the profile afterwards and change the currency of the SRP to match.

If you use greyghost's solution, it is possible to contribute that new profile. Compare all the info with yours because quite honestly, there are often changes made somewhere on the disc or cover between localities. When contributing, in the notes section, list the original UPC and say that you got the information from that one (mostly used when people didn't want to redo cast/crew) and what info you kept from that UPC.

To avoid no votes, make sure you check the cast and crew from the disc against what is listed in the profile because it is very easy to keep on populating the database with incorrect information just by copying and pasting.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! And pictures!? Even I can't screw that up!
Someone explained how to do this long ago and I couldn't find my notes - but I took screencaps of these two posts and put them in my DVD Profiler folder so I won't lose the "how to" again.
Thank you both .,.

However, if you use the back cover of the profile you are cloning from, your submission will get rejected based on the UPC code on the picture not matching the UPC you are submitting

Yes, I knew that. But … I used a quality downloaded cover pic which was exactly the same, assuming it was exactly the same anyway, without checking the UPC. Turned out to be a different UPC so I got rejected. Who knew two exact same covers would have different UPCs?
So, I scanned my own cover, resubbed, and got approved. Next time I'll remember to check.
