Question: Wouldn't the CPU power of a PC or laptop do that more effectively? Then when you ran a sync, even it took a couple tries, your database would be in the order you want.

Have you tried running your sync with the mobile device plugged in? At least on my phone, it keeps it from  going to sleep and timing out.  That might help your situation.

With a collection like yours this is about the most inefficient way to number a collection.
Especially since this way my (the) two most used sorting algorhythms (alpha and collection#) will give exactly the same result.

I have a significantly smaller collection and even on my shelves I sort by purchase date, since this prevents me from having to re-sort my shelves every two days.
Renumbering, this way, only is required on the few occasions that an item is sold (or otherwise permanently given away).

Granted: My sorting method actually requires DVDProfiler when wanting to find a title.

No offense meant.

Just wanted to show up an alternative (imo: better) sorting option.
And this only because sometimes users tend to lose their way in the mass of options a program has.
