| Posted: | | | | I usually price compare between Best Buy and Amazon. If the prices are comparable, I will order from Best Buy to get the reward points. If they don't have it there, then I will order from Amazon. |

| Posted: | | | | This year: From amazon i've mostly bought anime and some Japanese movies. Anttila is a local store and Turun elokuvadivari is a local second hand store, from both i've got the regular hollywood movies and Finnish movies. From eBay i buy Korean releases and from yesasia mostly Korean movies this year. |

| Posted: | | | | I used to use play.com for all my European imports. However, now I use Amazon UK almost exclusively.
What makes Amazon UK really attractive, is that I live in Norway, which is not a member of EU. Amazon UK will deduct the UK VAT (20%) on all orders it ships outside of EU, so all DVDs are actually a bit cheaper than they appear at Amazon.
Normally, I would have to pay Norwegian VAT when I receive the DVD, but in order to not overwhelm Norwegian customs, shipments with a low value are excempt from VAT. That value is currently 200 NOK (about $35 / £22 / €25). Add 20% VAT to £22, and you get £26.40. So, as long as I keep the order below £26.40 (including UK VAT), I won't have to pay VAT at all on the movies. That's more than enough for all regular blu-rays, and even a few box sets.
Also, Amazon UK offers free shipping to Norway on orders above £20 including VAT (I know they say £25 on the site, but the limit is actually £19.92, or £16.60 + VAT).
The combination of free shipping and VAT deduction means that Amazon UK is cheaper than play.com 9 out of 10 times. If it's not closer to 99 out of 100. Basically, if the price you see on Amazon UK is the same as it is on play.com, and it is £12 or higher, it'll be cheaper at Amazon (For an item costing £12, VAT is £2. Shipping is £1.98, so you'll end up paying £11.98). If it costs less, shipping will cost more than the VAT that's deducted, so play.com will be cheaper (unless you buy more than one item, and get free shipping). For items between £12 and £20, Amazon gets gradually cheaper than play, and once you get over £20 (but keep it below £26.40 to avoid Norwegian VAT), Amazon UK is considerably cheaper than play.com
tl;dr: Don't bother with play.com. Use Amazon UK. Always! |

| Posted: | | | | I won't be original here Most from Amazon Canada and Amazon UK when I need to import (sometimes Amazon France if I need a specific title). Never from Amazon.com as the shipping cost is too high in Canada. If I can't find what I want on Amazon I buy directly from the company that release the dvd. In the past I've used Excalibur Films, Adult DVD Pacific, YesAsia, Xploited Cinema and Diabolik DVD also to order... |

| Posted: | | | | I usually buy from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. Shipping costs are reasonable so no complaints there.
I used to order from play.com (i live in the Netherlands) but shipping (although free, or maybe because free) was horrendous. This might have to do with the delivery service they use(d) in the Netherlands but i would often not get my stuff or weeks would pass..
Amazon.uk is very fast with shipping. Obviously amazon.com is a little less fast due to that ocean it needs to pass over.
In netherlands i occasionally order from bol.com, mainly due to their fast shipping. Order before 10pm, get it the next day on most dvd's/bd's..
But mainly amazon. They are getting rich of off me i fear. |

Hm, i've used www.play.com alot, (i live in Norway) and i've been very happy with play actually, the only thing i could complain about, is the delivery time, could be from 5 days to 4 weeks.. Thats no good, but shipping costs doesnt cost anything, and the prices on the most stuff on they're site, is usually the cheapest.. And they got a lot, that other sites doesnt have in, etc! But now i use amazon.uk, the few things i've orderd from them, i am very happy with. Both the shipping costs are cheap, and the delivery time is kinda short too..And they got a lot of rare stuff too, that not many others have.. So those two are my favourites, and there is a few local stores i use too |

| Posted: | | | | From Play.com :D It's the best for bargains and cheap dvds/blu-rays. The best thing is that you can order only one movie for a very low price, let's say 3 GBP, without paying any shipment costs. Right now they have January sales and I've just ordered 16 blu-rays for approximately 5 GBP each. | | | Mission: DVD Wall |

| Posted: | | | | In Australia, I purchase my Region 4 DVDs from JB Hi-Fi Online. Best Australian "street" prices, free shipping, although delivery can be varied as they drop-ship from various distributors. From the U.K. I am now almost exclusively purchasing from amazon.co.uk as sendit.com, hmv.com et al have jacked up their "rest of world" shipping charges to unrealistic levels. With amazon.co.uk, I have 3 benefits: 1) Orders over GBP25.00 are shipped free under their "Super Saver" arrangements they have with some international destinations. 2) Orders are shipped ex-Vat (20%) except where sourced from Amazon's Jersey Merchant, Indigostarfish.com. This makes a significant difference in the price. Only Base.com ships ex-Vat where the unit price is over GBP18.00, but will sting me on the shipping charge and it evens out 3) Amazon.co.uk give very accurate shipping and transit time dates and are very reliable in this regard. They have in most cases shipped same day (due to my time zone being UTC +10.00 hours) and to date have been very reliable. From the USA, I use amazon.com and moviemars.com, both reliable, but not as fast as the UK. For some reasons shipments from the USA appear to be transhipped by DHL/Deutsche Post via Frankfurt and take an eon rather than directly across the Pacific. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine

| Posted: | | | | For USA buyers, don't forget Craigslist.
This past weekend I picked up 96 Blu-Rays for $2.25 each.
Granted, they were prior rentals, but the disc condition was excellent, and I've just ordered blank Blu-Ray cases to make everything pretty.
I've also done this with DVDs, and for the titles that don't interest me, I take them to Swap.com and exchange them with other traders for something I do want.
I once bought over 300 DVDs at a time for $1.17 ea, original cases, inserts, and discs were immaculate. Guy was dumping his collection to upgrade to high def.
Otherwise it's Amazon for me. I'm amazed how often I can score good movies in good condition for $3 delivered -- basically what would be the shipping cost for me. Doesn't make sense to trade when they're that cheap. The great majority of my purchases are under $10, and I've really been surprised at how the bottom has fallen out of the Blu-Ray pricing, assuming you can be a little patient. |
