Every know and then there comes a request for additional columns, be it Sort-titles
or Categories and I'd like to add PurchasePlace and PurchasePrice to that list.

More columns would mean more control, because the list view could solve a lot of problems/questions that otherwise have to be solved with filtering (if at all possible) or even with outside help from plug-ins like database-query.
To make things even better the sort should be enhanced so you can sort by, lets say up to three columns just like in Excel or similar spreadsheets.

Think about the possibilities: Want to know which titles you bought 2008 from Amazon.com? Show the columns, sort by PurchasePlace as primary and PurchaseDate as secondary. Now quickly flag the titles you are after and print a report, or export them, or back them up or ...

PS An appeal to all the general Nay-sayers: if you don't need a specific column, just don't use it IF it ever gets added. And as for the "But Ken has more important matters at hand."-sayers, it is of course as always 100% up to Ken when and if he implements those requests.

While that sounds good, it is something that could be said abut any feature requrest...if you don't need it, just don't use it...but discouraging "Nay-sayers", in my opinion, shouldn't be done.  If nobody every posted a dissenting opinion, how would Ken guage desire and decide which features should take priority?

There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

Also, it's bad design to load up software with a bunch of useless features as it makes it hard to find the good ones.

I think not to worry. The value of the discussion is probably more useful to Ken as an overall guage of pros and cons. Speaking from a programmer's perspective, making even one user happy is sometimes satisfying when the idea kind of fits with your own perspective, or happens to be easy to do, or hits on the correct Monday, or whatever ...

I really don't think we need to worry about one user killing the idea of another - Ken is smarter than that. Thank goodness!!!

That's what a well-designed, well-documented help file is for

And sometimes that one user turns into many. There are always additions made to products that the consumer had not considered themselves, only to realize once it is there, "Why didn't I think of that before? I have a use for this."

That's a good point.  However, as I read the request here, it's not for a new feature.  He just wants an existing feature expanded.

Needless to say, I'm in favor of this.  So much so that I wrote my own plug-in to do just that!    And I would love to see some of that functionality moved into the main app.
