New features on the 93 vs. the old 83: 3D supportNetFlix and streaming support, with more network streaming features on the wayWireless-N networkingeSATA port to connect NTFS hard drivesDual HDMI outputsNew video processing chipset (Marvell Kyoto G2 with 2nd generation Qdeo technology)Better tray and loader mechanism.Abolished features: Dedicated analogue stereo outputs24fps output for DVDs.Oppo is anticipating the new 93 to be released before the end of the year. Price tag will be the same as the 83 had: $499. You can take a first look here. Makes me drool all over the place... What's more: it would seem that this time around there will be a European version, too. Finally, Oppo is also working on a higher-end model, the BDP-95. That one hasn't been scheduled for release yet. | | | Last edited: November 14, 2010 11:51 AM by dee1959jay |

| Posted: December 29, 2010 4:23 PM | | | | Ordered Dec 20, received Dec 22, Works great. It's my third Oppo. Class act from the packaging to its operation. Remote is much improved from my first Oppo. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. Did you also own the BDP-83? If so, is the video and audio on the 93 better? No, I didn't, I intended to, but I was busy and by the time I got around to it Oppo sent an emaIL about the 93. It comes with a cloth carrying case and a firmware update disc. I also have a OPDV971H & DV-981HD. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: December 30, 2010 10:20 AM | | | | Pity, as an 83 owner I would like to know how the two compare. Guess we'll have to wait for the reviews of the 93 to find out.
The carrier bag was standard on the 83 as well, as were two calibration discs and a solid HDMI cable. | | | Last edited: December 30, 2010 10:21 AM by dee1959jay |

Looking to upgrade soon to a CIH theater room and can't have forced subtitles in the "black bars" According to an answer to a similar question raised in a danish forum (recordere.dk) it's possible to move the subs up and down +/- 5 ... position 0 being the normal position. The pictures below show position 0 and 5 (- 5 would be outside the display) |
