Well, with all due respect I would like to say that this is a very poor defense. Not fixing a serious shortcoming because there are other fields with the same shortcoming is like saying that you won't fix a broken window because there are other broken windows...

While I agree that there may be fields where it may be difficult to find an elegant way of distinguishing between data not entered and actual lack of data (like when there is actually no overview), this is no reason not to fix the fields where there is a simple solution.

So, my request is that wherever feasible fields should default to "Undetermined" rather than to a valid value.
