Maybe it's only my drive, can someone please verify my problem?

When I enter a disc and DVDP is running it regognizes it and tells me whether or not it is already in the collection.

When I eject the disc and put another into the drive, DVDP still tells me its the first one and rejects to give me the new disc id (e.g. to assign it to the disc info or use it as alternate UPC)

I had no problems updating several disc IDs in a row.

However, I always have those two options about selecting/adding on disc insert turned off.

Sounds like your drive is not resetting properly to me.  Be sure to wait until ALL drive activity ends and the light goes out before checking to see if it is reporting the correct disc.  If you jump the gun it can foul things up as you describe.

I had this problem before (not anymore and I am not sure anymore what fixed it).

Have you tried rebooting and check whether the problem disappears?

Another method I found is:
Scan Disc-ID of first disc.
Remove first disc and close the empty drive.
Open the drive and insert second disc.
For me, at the time, this would reset the drive.
