I recently purchased a smartphone just so I can get DVDP Mobile and was curious to how much memory this takes up on the phone. I have 834 movies on my desktop Profiler and the directory on the hard drive w/ all the info is at roughly 250 megabytes. Is it the same for the mobile version or is it scaled down? And can you save this to a MicroSD card?? Just wondering b/c i'm wanting to know how big of an MicroSD i should buy...

also, I keep reading in the forums that the smartphone one wishes to use for profiler mobile must have a touchscreen. I emailed someone at Invelos and they stated that the phone DOES NOT have to have a touchscreen, just a good version of windows mobile.

Whomever you PMd with is absolutely WRONG. DVD Profiler Mobile compatible devices MUST have touchscreen support and MUST run on Windows Mobile 5 or 6 Pro.

@8ballMax: Say it isn't so!! it was in fact your comments where I saw this mentioned the most...this is what I got yesterday:
-----
The mobile version requires Windows Mobile Professional or Classic but does not require a touch screen.

I don't know...maybe I'll keep my fingers crossed, or be returning the phone and hoping I can get a refund on the program if it doesn't work out...I really hope someone on the staff wouldn't be putting out false info just to make sale...

Maybe something in the coming beta version we don't know about yet (just working on getting some unfounded rumors started)

Man, this is crazy! i don't know why they wouldn't disclose this information on the product download page, like REQUIREMENTS...oh well. I guess if all else fails, I'll still have Excel Mobile on the phone and can look at a .CSV file...save $18...

Mobile requires Windows Mobile Professional or Classic, version 5, version 6, or version 2003.  As far as I know, all devices that run those versions of Windows Mobile do have touchscreens.  If that's not correct, we would have to take a look to see whether mobile will run correctly.

Note that the download for Mobile is free and you can do a test synchronization of a portion of your collection without a key.  So if you already have the device, download it and try it out.  Otherwise, the above guidelines (WM Pro/Classic) are correct until we run into any specific exceptions.

Ken, thank you for that...yeah, surprisingly there are a few phones out there with WM 6 that do not have a touch screen. the one I ordered is the T-Mobile Shadow by HTC (it was only $50! even if some reviews say its crap)

as soon as I get it in, I will test it and let everyone know how this works out. I'm all for it being a big WIN, obviously!

Phones with WM 6 that do not have a touchscreen are running Windows Mobile Standard, not Professional or Classic.  They do not meet the requirements.

What about the memory question at the orign of this thread? Is the space required the same or less than standard DVDP?
I can resist everything but temptation.

Far less assuming that "Standard DVDP" is the desktop version.

They are two separate applications though they communicate with each other and have the same basic functionality.  The handheld version is a very small app and the amount of space utilized is based solely on the size of your collection.

I have 800+ profiles loaded on my AT&T Tilt storing on a 4 GB storage card with plenty of space left over and that's with cover images at near max quality.  I would recommend that you store your collection only on the storage card.

I don't have the Tilt with me so I can't tell you exactly how much space is being utilized by the application itself.

I've 559 profiles in my collection and DVDP Mobile is set to use front and back images of the maximum image size 480x640 at 70% image quality. This ends up as 2.61 MB for the collection and 60 MB for the images. the size of the "normal" collection is 460MB (actors.blb is 327 MB).

My Profile size of 885 (736 Owned, 42 Ordered, 107 Wishlist) takes up 4MB Profile Info and 420 MB Image Info.

Note my image sizes are bigger @ 480 * 640 since I have a VGA screen so therefore you can see that we can deduce the following;

Profile Size
jhagblad 559 Profiles for 2.61MB space =  214 Profiles/1MB
DJ Doena 2100 Profiles for 10MB space = roughly 210 Profiles/1MB
Mine 885 Profiles for 4MB = roughly 220 Profiles/1MB

Images
jhagblad 1118 images for 60MB space (480*640 @ 70%) = roughly 19 images/1MB
DJ Doena 4200 images for 165MB space (240*320 @ 95%)= roughly 25 Images/1MB
Mine 1770 for 420MB (480*640 @ 100%) = roughly 4 Images/1MB

These are quick rough estimates and assumes that all profiles have non-shared both front and back cover scans.
