I am trying to contribute cover scans for this edition of Pearl Harbor (786936164282) and I updated my profile (It said no differences detected, nothing in my profile is locked either.) before adding my new cover scans and submitting them. When I submitted the profile I realized that there were 3 changes in the cast and crew. One name had a birth year and I also had 2 spelling variations (Van der Ryn/Van Der Ryn and another one.) I fixed them in my database to match the online database as I am sure that "Van" isn't a middle name, it's part of the surname. Well, but all this isn't the problem. When trying to contribute I got another difference between the profiles.
Go here to see a screen shot of the contribution screen.

How can my local profile be so different from the online profile after updating it? All I want to do is contribute my cover scans because the ones online are from the Canadian release under the US locality.

I've encountered this more often. I think it has something to do with whether or not you have the profiles for the rest of the alleged "box set" in your local collection.

Ok, I don't have child profiles for the 2 discs but this isn't a box set. It's only one movie and a box set would be more than one according to the rules or do I misunderstand this? And the other question is how can I have different data in cew and cast after updating the profile? I guess I won't contribute this scan.

I'm not sure i follow the issue of your profile being different from the online version but that shouldn't prevent you from submitting a scan.  Unless you click the check box(es) between your profile updates and the online nothing is submitted.

You can completely ignore profile differences this way and just submit the scans.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Tweeter: Did you look at the screen shot I uploaded? If yes, are you talking about the checkbox in the item column? I didn't know you can just upload scans. It would be great if it's that simple.

Thanks,
Dirk

PS I still wonder why my refreshed profile differed from the one in the database. I had no locks set and still there were differences in the cast and crew.

I don't know about the differences between the profiles, but yes, if you don't click on that checkbox in the item column, you won't submit the change.  It'll just submit the scan.

The only other I can think of that could cause the scan comparison images to come up is - when you clicked on contribute you should've received a window to select Contribute or Cancel. In that small window there is also a check box that says "Include Cover Scans". You must check this to allow your covers to also be uploaded. Did you see that and did you click on that checkbox?

MovieBug: I checked the box to include the cover scans and they did show too. I was just wondering about the box set check box and why my cast and crew is different from the online database after refreshing the profile.
