This is the sort of clock I'd like for my desktop, I think I like the first one better. If you need a clock for your desktop, get this! Yes, I bought one some years ago, and it runs perfectly (with a 230V->110V converter. When I got it, there was no 230V version available, and it appears that the red LED version (which I got) still isn't... | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. Neat looking clock!
Thanks & Take Care Rico | | | If I felt any better I'd be sick! Envy is mental theft. If you covet another mans possessions, then you should be willing to take on his responsibilities, heartaches, and troubles, along with his money. D. Koontz |

| Posted: | | | | I have the blue LED version. So many people have no idea its a clock and after you tell them are like, 'oh, how does it work'
Rander, what mode do you have yours set in? I use the 24 hour 'true binary' mode (believe they refered to it as true binary in them instructions). Kinda sad, mine is only about 2 years old and one of the LED's is dimmer then the rest.

That's why I love it! :-) Quote: Rander, what mode do you have yours set in? I use the 24 hour 'true binary' mode (believe they refered to it as true binary in them instructions). Well, I am danish, and in Denmark the "official" time is 24-hour. I'm not sure what you mean by "true binary" - it has one column per digit (hours, minutes and seconds are two columns each - tens and ones), and as far as I know (and remember the instructions for it), that's the only mode it does. There are two buttons on the back, one for setting hours and one for minutes. If you just plug the clock in, it'll be 12-hour and assume 60 Hz current. If you press and hold one of the buttons on the back when plugging in, it'll be 24-hour, pressing and holding the other button it'll adjust to 50 Hz current (as it uses the power phase shifting for timekeeping). If you press and hold both buttons when plugging in, it goes 24-hour 50 Hz - I don't remember which button does what, I just know that if I unplug it, I need to hold both buttons when plugging in again. I actually considered the blue LED version for a long time, but eventually went for the red LED's, as it somehow seemed "geekier"... | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. On the blue model it works the kind of the same way with the buttons, except the second button changes the binary from what you described to using rows instead. bottom row is seconds, second row up is minutes and third row up is hours. so if the lights on a row read as follows (0 is an off light, 1 is an on light)
0 0 1 0 1 0
that would be 10 seconds if that was described the bottom row. So not all the lights get used in this mode, but they refered to it as 'true binary' as Ten is displayed as a 10 in binary and not a 1 in binary next to a 0 in binary.
hope that made sense, its easier to explain with the clock there so you have the visual

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Agrare: Quote: not sure I know what you mean by the 50hz current & power phase shifting Well, in Europe, the power grid runs 230V 50 Hz - in America, it is 110V 60 Hz. What this means is, that th epositive and negative "wire" switches 50 times per second in Europe and 60 times per second in America. This is also the reason why American television is 30 frames per second and European are 25 frames per second - the television draws half a frame per phase shift, which makes one full frame per two shifts. So, if I do not tell my clock that it is running 50 Hz (my converter only converts the voltage (230->110), not the Hz), it would think that one second is the time it takes for the phase to shift 60 times. It would still work, but it would be the remaining ten frames slow, which would result in it loosing ten seconds per minute... | Posted: | | | | Hi Jafo,
Thank You, Yes! But the other clock is very interesting, appreciate the effort. Did you see the first clock I posted here <couple pages back> way cool.
