POTC got 9 yeses and 0 noes.

Superbad got 13 yeses and 0 noes.

Both get declined.

As this is a very subjective area, our votes are only a reccomendation.  The screener has the final say as to whether or not the improvement is significant enough to be accepted.

Well ... I can tell you this ...

The POTC only had the pre-release cover for front & back in the databaase.

There were numerous contributions for the correct front & rear covers ... BUT ... mine was the ONLY ONE that actually contained the slip cover that the DVD came in ...

That is why I am confused.

As for the Superbad one ... only Ray Charles would not have seen how much difference there was from mine to the one in the database.

This is what makes it so discouraging about trying to improve the database on here ...

Well, there is another possibility...the screener made a mistake.  I know it can get frustrating, but don't let it get you down.

I know they have a lot to look through ... but that is why it would be nice to get a reason why it got declined. How will someone ever know what they did wrong if not told?

It is like doing your job at work ... if noone ever tells you that you are doing something wrong you will always think you are doing it right.

I guess I am frustrated with these ones because I talked with Skip about what to do to improve my scans etc and these were some of the nicest ones I had done to date. I got some nice comments on them too from some of the voters.

Oh well ...

Mark,

At the time you submitted both of these, my scans were ahead of you. Both of my scans got approved. Your Superbad front is not as sharp as mine, which is now the current scan. Your POC scans look very red/pink to me ( you think that mine are too yellow ).

My guess is that once my scans were approved, yours were not a 'significant improvement'.

By the way, the votes on mine were 10-0 and 17-0.

Ah, this does explain a lot.  This was the third option that I had not considered...another contribution being accepted prior to the one in question.

This almost always happens the first week or so of a new release.  As Paul has already alluded to, often times there are multiple choices up for grabs.  They can't all win.

If it gets too frustrating, consider upgrading the scans on some older profiles.  There are still a large number of low-res images out there left over from the great database migration.  A lot of them seem to be Criterion covers, which I just find odd for some reason.

Yes I think it couldn't be easy to implement this but it could be helpful if we can have a system, when we contribute a new profile that doesn't already exist, to inform you that there is already a contribution waiting to be reviewed so we can wait before make our contribution. I think it was already discuss or ask in the Request Forum of Invelos or maybe when it was still Intervocative, didn't remember.

Yes, it's been requested on the Invelos Feature Request but not implemented as yet.

The best that we can do for now is try to get a basic profile up pre-release so that everyone can see if anyone else has submitted a change... of course just because they can doesn't mean they do and you still get a lot of similar updates but at least you can blame the users for not checking rather than the system for not allowing them to check... and hopefully, in time, educate users to bother!

So let me get this right. Mark is unhappy because his scans that he submitted after mine (both of which he voted yes on) were declined after mine were approved. I try to add some background info and then I get a 'bad' vote for it? If I had called Mark a jerk or something then I could understand. But to get a bad vote for adding info to the thread is something that has me very confused.

You can go halfway currently. Once you've submitted your data all you need to do is go to your contribution page and click the notes link.

It may mean you may have to withdraw yours and wait a couple of days, but it can avoid frustration.

If he or anyone really gave you a negative rating for that post then that is clearly an abuse of the reputation system.  All you did was explain the situation and how it came about.  I hope there is a way to change or cancel the ratings otherwise they might be sorry they did that.

Yes in generally it's what I do. Most of the time I don't have another contribution in same time than me for a new contribution because for the France and Belgium locality we aren't a lot of people to add new profile...

Yes you can change your vote. You must go to database, click on "All pending updates", search the profile, click on "Evaluate" and redo as the first time.

Trust me I get my fair share of those as I don't always stick to mainstream, nor just US/UK releases. I have a backlog of contributions to catch up on.
