I am thinking about getting the ATT Tilt (already acknowledged to support DVD Profiler Mobile), and here's what I'd like to do, but don't know if I can...

1- I'd like to start my database using the Tilt, and copy/sync the data to the PC (rather than the other way around).  If this is possible, then continue with #2, else forgetaboutit.

2- Add DVDs to the database using a bluetooth enabled scanner (the Tilt supports connecting to up to 6 bluetooth devices), and utilize the Tilt's WiFi capabilities to connect to the DVD Profiler database at Invelos via my home network.

This way, since my DVDs are not located near a computer, I could simply walk around with my Tilt and wireless/bluetooth scanner to input the DVDs.

The Tilt has a touch screen and uses Windows Mobile Professional 6.0 (6.1 is out now).  Can do?

The Handheld profiler only syncs up with your local currently selected database in DVDP.  It's not the Tilt that make it that way, it's the program.

1. Yes, this is possible.  First synchronize with the device once, selecting to download the entire online list to the device.

2. Yes, should be possible.  Mobile includes a specific mode to add via barcode scanners.  Select Lookup, By UPC, then click the little barcode indicator at the bottom.  It enables quick entry, for scanners.

To make sure it will work, first check whether the device/barcode scanner will scan into any application.

Just to clarify, I'd be creating a new database with no DVDs entered.

Are you saying that I can/should download Invelos' entire database to my mobile device (not sure I'd want to do that, although that might be helpful for my desktop version, if I didn't have to sit there holding down my spacebar... Ctrl-A would be a help there), or do you mean if I'm starting from scratch, create a new blank database with the desktop version and have the mobile device sync with that?

Great!  Thanks, Ken.

Some of this may not be 100% accurate as my knowledge is just from seeing it work, but the idea should be correct. Also I'm working from memory.

DVD Profiler downloads basically a list of profiles from the invelos site and when you add a dvd to your collection it downloads the full profile at that time.

When you sync up to mobile, you can have it send just the dvds in your collection or also include the online profiles (that full list, it can be filtered by locality and date).

After you sync up, you can then search those profiles by title and/or upc and add them to your collection.

When you re-sync with desktop it will add those to your collection and download the complete profile.
