| | Posted: | | | | My DVD has 2 UPC numbers: 012236140986 on the metal outer case; 012236146285 on the inner keep case. Each of these UPCs are entered into the database individually; somehow this seems wrong to me.
If you only list the first UPC then you do not actually have the DVD; you only have the empty metal case.
If you only list the second UPC you are not including the metal slip cover.
So...is there a better way to deal with this? If so what would you suggest?
Secondly should metal slip cover be classified as SteelBook or left as Slip Cover? |

The way I understand it is that the UPC on the slip cover is for the limited sleeve release, whereas the UPC on the keep case is the normal, sleeveless release.
So in your case, the outer UPC overrides the inner one as you have the one with the outer case.
Does that make sense? |

This is not unusual at all. Distributors often do this, the metal case, slip case or whatever is limited in avvaialbility, why?, to get you to spend more money. Once the supply is exhausted, the inner case is re-released under its UPC and at a reduced price. Its a very old game, and why there HAS to be two separate listings for such titles. The case is NOT a Steelbook case, it IS a merely a metal slip case.

And it's not a box set because it's containing just one item. There are other examples for that, e.g. slip cases with other UPCs than the inner keep case. | | | Karsten

The two are not released at the same time. the customer would not have the option of buying without the slip case at the time of purchase, so at that time the applicable data is the taht of the slip.
