| Posted: | | | | My So-Called Life: the Complete Series has 5 discs with episodes and one disc and a 6th disc with most of the special features on it.
I don't recall how this has been handled in the past and am wondering what to do about it in this case. I have completed (and am ready to contribute) all the episodic data (cast, crew, synopses [for child profiles]) but am not sure what to do about the special features disc. Should I create a child profile for disc 6 or just ignore it?
Comments? Suggestions? | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

| Posted: | | | | We include the special features disc for movie boxsets, so I don't see why we can't use them for TV series. So I say that you create a profile for disc 6 (even though I don't use child profiles) | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity | | | Last edited: by reybr |

| Posted: | | | | Ken you shouldn't ignore it, I think the best solution is to handle it like 99% of the Other Bonus Discs, which means it is attached to the parent profile. I think someday we will be able to provide specific data on Bonus Disc material, which will change the game, but that is off in the future somewhere. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | My only argument with reybr, is that unless there is an additional title involved on the Bonus Disc we do not handle them with their own Profiles...yet.

| Posted: | | | | According to the rules, "Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired", making no disctinction as to content, and no clear instruction to carry over the rules which we apply to movie releases. Every TV set I have with child profiles uses a disc-level profile even for bonus-only discs; I've submitted many that way and downloaded even more. | | | Last edited: by Nadja |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, I have noted that, nadja and i think to use a phrase i disapprove of Common Sense would dictate CONSISTENT handling. Speaking for myself when I began the work on the Rules several years back, I didn't figure that we had to walk through each and every step and change your (generic) diapers for you. Consistency of handling would tell you that you that what you are doing is INCORRECT, but that is just one users opinion, even though the concept was born here. Why would you handle TV Bonus Discs in a way that is inconsistent with the way we handle ANY other Bonus Disc? Don't answer, I can guess.

| Posted: | | | | I don't know for sure how I feel about this one yet Skip... I think it can be said it is consistent to have a profile for the bonus disc here... after all we are treating the sets like boxsets... the bonus disc is covering every feature/profile in the set... just like bonus discs for movie boxsets... as long as the bonus disc is covering the entire series/season it I think it would be consistent at least. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Apart from anything else, if it doesn't have it's own profile, where would the info for this sixth (for example) disc go? In the disc 1 profile, or disc 5? Perhaps pick which features on that disc apply to which episodes and tick whichever features boxes are appropriate on the other children? Maybe just add the disc ID as a "bonus materials" disc to each and every child. If none of these are right (which of course they are not), then surely none of the content of that disc can be profiled at disc level? Thus, it will remain solely in the parent, creating a glaring inconsistency for those who prefer/include disc-level profiling: leaving a siginificant chunk of it out.
And my original reply wasn't directed at you, Skip. Not everything is about you. It's a group discussion, and you're far from the closer. | | | Last edited: by Nadja |

| Posted: | | | | Nadja: As I explained, I would attach it to the Parent profile, that is consistent with handling of 99.9% of Bonus Discs. And what the hell is YOUR problem, i never said I was the closer as you put it. I gave my thoughts and the rationale behind it. If you don't like it TOUGH but DROP YOUR GD attitude. | Posted: | | | | Ken: i suppose I should clarify just a tad. Bonus Discs that are in their own "case", I would handle separately. But assuming that the distributor handles them the way they do MOST Bonus discs then I would handle as I outlined.

Look at: 24: Seasons 2-5 Band of Brothers Heroes: Season 1 Lost: Seasons 1-2 The Shield: Season 5 Those are a few TV series from my collection that have separate profiles for the Bonus disc. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks, Chris. I've got all the titles in your list except 24 (I only have Season 1) in my database.
BTW: Heroes doesn't have a Bonus-features only disc. All 7 discs have at least one episode on them. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

| Posted: | | | | Skip, you made it personal and started being bitchy. Again. If you don't want to argue, behave rationally. Apart from anything else, you're treating the discussion as though TV sets are single features such as a movie with a bonus disc, yet the subject is treating TV sets at disc-level as box sets, of which you were a major proponent, so the box set rules should apply, including individual profiles for box set bonus discs which apply to all the other features. You can't have it both ways.
Add to chris's list sets including the O.C., Rome, Desperate Housewives, R2 Doctor Who, etc | | | Last edited: by Nadja |
