| | Posted: | | | | I just bought the recent Retromedia release of Planet of Dinosaurs. The interesting thing about this is that it has been released with two slightly different covers. The one I have says "20th Anniversary Edition". The thing about that is that it's actually the 30th Anniversary (well, 29th if you want to be precise, but that doesn't seem to matter too much to Retromedia).
Apparently Retromedia realized the mistake and changed the cover to say "30th Anniversary Edition".
The question now is - which to use? It's the same release, so technically the "original release" rule doesn't apply. However, "20th..." was first. On the other hand "30th..." is correct.
There are images available for both covers. Obviously, if I scan my cover, I'll have to enter "20th..." because I can't very well have one thing on the cover and another thing in the Edition field.

I would say absolutely use Gunnar's artwork, now, granted in an ideal world we would be able to accomodate both. Biut it's not much different than misprints of money and stamps, etc, which are highly collectible and prized beyond the face value of the item.

| | Posted: | | | | I don't think it's actually recalled. I think they just corrected the text in mid stream, so to speak. I have no idea how many 20th and how many 30th there are out there. In fact, I'm not even 100% sure that they have actually shipped any with 30th, yet.
The cover image at Amazon shows 30th, so it's clear that Retromedia has at least recognized the problem and made a new cover art. Deep Discount shows 20th. DVD Pacific has no image. DVD Empire doesn't list the title at all (only the old GoodTimes release).
