I want to finally use DVD Profiler to enable me to physically locate DVD's in various binders. The obvious way is to use the collection number but I am concerned that it is easily reassigned.

My initial plan is to basically allow DVD profiler to assign collection #'s to all my DVD's. I will then physically number the corresponding DVD and number a slot in a binder. Thus all new DVD's will get a new number but there will be no easy way to group DVD's by genre etc.

But my main concern is that I might accidentally reassign the collection numbers. Is there another field to use to store the DVD binder slot info that is less easy to edit ? I looked at the location field but few of my DVD's have a disc already in that field.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Your best bet is either to use the location and slot fields (you can easily add a disc to a profile if there isn't one already) or use tags to represent the folders and use the collection number to represent the slot.
I personally use the first option and have had no problems with it.

Well, there's the option of adding a HTML note that kicks off a wav/mp3 that you recorded telling you exactly where it is.

"HAL, I'd like to watch Charlie's Angels - tell me where it is."

"I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave..."
