It would be nice if DVD could use a bar code scanner to input new DVDs. I have a collection of approximately 800 movies and hate the thought of typing in all those UPC codes.

Anybody know how to make this work?

Thanks

I use a Cuecat as well. You can get one on Ebay for around $10.00 plus shipping.

Search eBay for CueCat and look for the CueCat store.  Prices were under $10 the last time I looked.  be sure to get a modified CueCat and if you prefer, USB.  I have a modified USB CueCat that works just fine.

I have a Cuecat and a handheld Symbol scanner gun.  Both work very well.  (I have to admit I like my Symbol better than my CueCat!)

The perhaps you'll take the comment from someone you don't have a past history with. You were being unnecessarily rude to a newbie, which I've seen you do repeatedly. It's damaging to the reputation of a good program when peoples first introduction to the forum is a snide comment. I would be very appreciative it if you could make more of an effort to show a more positive and supportive attitude to this programs future.

For the record, searching for "bar code scanner" only turns up one result in the first three pages, and that result has a misleading title. I'd easily give jfrowe1 the benefit of the doubt, so '"Judge NOT...lest ye be judged...SIR".

@ jfrowe1

As other have stated, DVD Profiler does offer support for barcode scanners. I've never used one myself, but it is oft mentioned in these forum.

My first thought when someone says 'scanner', is a flat-bed-style scanner. I'd dismiss the thought without trying it and go for something more specific. You can't assume that someone thinks exactly as you do, nor can you assume that someone has tried a more obscure term that, on the face of it, is less likely to return results. Yes, 'scanner' does return the results, but it's a perfectly reasonable not to search for it.

No it is not perfectly reasonable not to search for it, Darrius. When I am searching i try every possibility i can imagine and ususally somewhere in there is the answer I am looking for. I said search Scanner, not bar Code Scanner or UPC...why? because that yielded the answer. Your type of thinking is what leads newbs to repeat the same question week after week ad infinitum. SEARCH is your friend, learn how to use it and you WILL find the answer...the truth is out there..

You searched for those terms, because you are aware that multiple words don't work

Look at it how you want, but more repeat questions like the one above just mean more new potential customers for the program.  Running them off is not a good business model.  I would think that making them welcome, and encouriging them to buy the program would be in everbodys best interest, especially yours Skip, as you seem to think you somehow run the company.
