I like to go through the coming releases on my PDA and add new items to my wish list. Then when I sync with my PC, it downloads the profile into DVDP. But I'm noticing that the Sort Title field in these profiles is empty.

I noticed this when I uploaded my collection and I saw, for instance, the T section coming before the A section. I'd open the sort title and find it empty. Then I went through all of the titles that I loaded via my PDA and they all had blank sort titles!

Anyone else notice this?

You can still sort by it.

You can sort on the PDA, but if you sync them to your PC, the version in the PC will have no sort title. If you then sort your PC database by title, all of the PDA-generated titles sort to the top before the letter A. Then if you upload your collection and view your voting queue, you'll find all of these profiles sorted to the left before the letter A.

It's a bit peculiar that the PDA version shows the Original Title rather than the Title, and sorts by the Title rather than the Sort Title.
Does no harm generally, but if you use the PDA to add to the collection as you do, I can see the problem.

I have the same problem.

Buy a DVD.  Say, 'Xylophone Hero'.  On Profiler Mobile, look up by UPC, type in the UPC, and add to collection.

Great.

Now, go sync with the desktop.  It notes the change, and brings in the new DVD.  Downloads profile and image from web.  Great.

Now, look at Desktop DVD Profiler.  Sort by title.  Hello, your very first DVD is 'Xylophone Hero', followed by 'Aardvarks On Parade - We Didn't Expect March of the Penguins to Sell So Well, So Here's The Glut Of Follow Ups,' and 'Bats On Ice: The Musical.'

I can't find many definitions of 'alphabetical' that would put X directly before A. :-)

Yup, because the sort title is blank.  I had this happen to me yesterday after doing the same thing in moving a profile from wish list to owned via the handheld.  Another request asked for DVDP to sort by DVD title if the sort title is blank.

In the meantime, copy the DVD title into the sort title field.

And yet strangely enough, when I then take my Treo to work, plug it into my other desktop, and tell it to 'overwrite desktop,' it writes the sort title in just fine.
