It's clear from other polls/threads that a lot of us have large collections and still buy a lot of new titles. What I noticed for myself is that every time we buy new ones, we buy more titles than the number of titles we have watched since the last time we went shopping. In other words, I have a huge backlog of DVDs still to watch, yet can't help buying new ones .
So... what's your backlogs like ?!

About 300 here (containing films I have seen on VHS or TV but not the dvd version...)

I do not see any dependencies between buying and watching dvd, as far there is a sufficient number of unwatched dvd's in the shelf

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many! I added 4 series last night:

Hogan's Heroes 6
Mission Impossible 2
Kyle ZY
The State Within (mini series)

total - 16 discs just on these and I still have a pile that is threatening to engulf me!

Are we talking DVDs we haven't watched, regardless of whether we've seen the content on them before or not? Or only "blind buys" - DVDs we've bought where we've never seen the movie or TV show they contain?

If it's the former... about 600. If it's the latter: 172.

Do you mean never watched on DVD or never seen ever ie. blind buys?

I know there was a thread on this recently (can't find it and my copy of DVDP is unavailable to me at the moment) but I think it's something like 600 in total, 300 of which are blind buys... and FWIW I have no problem with this. I would much prefer a wide 'library' of different films/TV i've never seen to choose from to match my mood than to rely on a few or have seen everything.

I would say the former. If you buy a DVD of which you already have seen the contents either on TV or in the theater, I am still assuming you want to see it again on DVD sooner or later. So yes, I include those.

Well my gast has been truly flabbered! Are there really some of you that buy hundreds of DVDs and don't watch them?    I've been on the forums long enough to know a few did this, but the votes show it's almost normal! I have about 30 I reckon, I thought that was so bad my buying has dropped to the minimum.

I can't see why anyone would spend possibly thousands of pounds/dollars on something they don't need. After all a DVD is designed to be played. To not play it is to deny its existence (Whoa, deep!). You could buy a car with that sort of money! Though you probably wouldn't drive it ...

Don't you feel gutted when you buy a new disc at full price than see a better release six months later in a bargain bin? I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone, I'm just fascinated by how odd you are!
