At present, when using the 'watched by' facility.
You have to select the user, before entering the 'watched on' date.

I would like it to autoselect the first name in the users list. This would then also work for when you are only recording a single users watched statistics.

I'd like that too. Although for those tracking multiple users, it might be better to be able to choose the default selection of user(s) rather than just the first one in the list.

I agree with this one... especially since I am the only user in mine... it does get tiresome to have to click the box by my name (the only name there) every time I watch something.

You could also, where you have multiple users, have one set as the default. Otherwise, I, too like the idea.

Seconded. Or maybe even select everyone by default (and provide a Clear All button). Because even those that have multiple users then probably also often watch those movies together.
Anything is better than the current default of nobody .

I track more people than only myself but more than 75% of the time I'm watching alone.  Frankly I don't like the idea of having to de-select the first user in the list before selecting myself.  It would be a nice feature if it was configurable.

Either a system wide setting (drop list) to pick a default user (or none at all) or, even better (sorry Ken ), a checkbox at each user to enable this on a 'per user' basis.

I would agree with Touti. Generally it is just me watching. I have a friend over on Friday evenings and we watch together then, but not always.

I have no problem with it being customizable... I think the best way would be to make it who the default user is. but either way I agree with the request!

Yes, good point Nadja and my feature 'request' should encompass this

I agree, as long as the default user is customizable, because I'm actually the last in my user list

This sounds like a good feature request.  I just wish I had kept track of "watched by" from the beginning.  I really didn't notice this feature until recently.

farralone, I have starte to use this end of 2003. I went through my collection at that time and everything before that date was set to Watched on the purchase date; looks weird for bulk purchases, but there you go.. At least now I have the ability to find the DVDs I have never watched...

As for the feature request, I'd like this too. I don't lend out DVDs and 99.9% I am one of the people watching. Haveing myself pre-selected would be really easier.

I did exactly the same back then, but additionally I'm using tags

Watched
- Commentary
- German Dub
- Original Audio
- Seen Elsewhere

The last tracks whether I've seen it at someone's place or maybe on TV. I might add a - English Dub to this in the future for imported foreign movies.

That's the problem with any software like this. You only start using this software once you already have a reasonable collection. Then you notice features like 'purchase date', 'watched by', 'price paid' etc... and then wished you were using the software from the very first disk you bought .

No wonder most of you are alone when watching dvd's. You should all go out more. Mingle. And when finally interacting on a social opportunity try to avoid bringing up topics like how you wish they'd customize another button in your favorite dvd-storagesoftware so you have to do one click less after you've watched a movie... because then a tumbleweed will roll by and wolves howling will be audible in the distance...
