| Posted: | | | | I just discovered today that there is some ambiguity regarding the description of the writer credits in the rules. Look here. There are two different kinds of writer credits: Screenwriter and Writer For screenwriter, the rules say, credited as Screenwriter, Screenplay, Teleplay (I guess these are examples of creditations?) and under notes say Use for Adapted ScreenplaysFor writer, the rules say, credited as Writer, Written by and under notes say Used for Original Screenplays only. Now, are all writers of adapted screenplays to be entered as screenwriters and all writers of original screenplays to be entered as writers or should they be entered as they appear in the credits no matter if they are based on some other material or not? I've always done it according to the notes, that is based on whether or not it was an original screenplay or not. Skip now tells me that this is all wrong based on a contriubtion of R1 movie "Iris". Who's right? Regardless of who's right, the rules should be clarified on this matter. /Mikkel | | | DVD Profiler på Dansk |

| Posted: | | | | OK, no one bothered to comment on their vote, so maybe I could just ask Ken: What is the intent of the two different credit types and could the rules be clarified accordingly?

| Posted: | | | | I saw the Iris contribution Mikl, and voted neutral as I wasn't able to verify how it is credited (at work at the moment).
However if it is credited 'written by', then I believe Skip is correct that they should be recorded as writers.

/Mikkel Skip is right you should credit the writers exactly how they are credited in the film credits. The notes field was there for guidence not to over-rule how the writer is actually credited as. | | | Are you local? Written By is for a screen/tele play that is done directly for the screen. A Screenplay By means adopted from another medium. A screenplay created from an outline, or short story, or a story board, etc., would all fit here. | | | John

/Mikkel It was late when I voted so I didn't want to comment and have it end up being gibberish. My opinion is they should be entered 'as credited'. The notes are there to help guide you and should not overrule the actual credits. I think that should be indicated in the rules. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
