| Posted: | | | | I recently had two profile contributions rejected on account of having Shout Select listed in their edition fields: 826663166309 = Nighthawks: Collector's Edition: Shout Select826663217957 = The Pianist: Shout SelectThe contribution rules say, "The Edition field is for… indicating special versions and collections" (emphasis added); they list The Criterion Collection as a collection example. And the poll in this thread came out in favour of listing lines like Arrow Video, Arrow Academy, and Shout Select in the edition field, with Arrow Films and Shout! Factory retained as the relevant media companies. Is this the correct approach? And is there a list anywhere of accepted collections? I'm wondering whether there's an authority I can appeal to when justifying my profile submissions. | | | "...self-discipline isn't everything. | Posted: | | | | Slippery slope, but given that Arrow Video has been contributed and allowed in the edition field (with Arrow Films in the Media Company slot), I'd say yes. |

Other than pointing to the contribution rules, and/or discussing it in the forums, there really isn't, no. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll admit to voting no. I thought The Pianist was a slippery slope one that could go either way, but since Nighthawks already clearly had an edition ("Collector's Edition") putting the label next to it seems wrong to me, so having already voted against the one it seemed wrong to vote for the other.
But if the majority agree that it is correct, I'll abstain if you want to resubmit. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield | | | Last edited: by Danae Cassandra |

| Posted: | | | | It looks like the poll was a dead race between the do's and do not's. (24-24).
But of course people can interpret things the way they want. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | If Ken was still involved it would be nice if we could have a separate field for collections/labels. Sigh. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

I'm not so sure that the "yes" camp is actually the majority, and was hoping there was an authoritative answer or obvious consensus to be had. It seems we have neither. Whatever the result, I appreciate your feedback and your willingness to weigh in on the subject. I agree that a dedicated "Media Company Label" field would be an ideal answer; absent that, my preference is for labels (Arrow Academy, Arrow Video, The Criterion Collection, Eclipse, Shout Select, etc.) in the Edition field as collections, with only company names (Arrow Films, The Criterion Collection, Shout! Factory, etc.) in the Media Company field. | | | "...self-discipline isn't everything. Look at Pol Pot." —Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason |
