I have a collection of almost 7000 dvds which I have spent many hours uploading into dvd profiler over the last 15 years. The laptop I have access to them on is about to die but I am unable to create a backup of my collection as I get a stream read error each time I try to save a back up. Help!

Try to untick the check mark for the images. You can backup them later.

Try if that works!

Thanks for your advice DJ Doena but sadly that doesn't work either. I unticked all of the options one at a time but still no joy.

Tray to Repair Profile Database.
Or backup files to a Extern hard drive. If the collection are more than 4 GB with images then you shut got a NTFS Harddrive not
FAT 32 Harddrive. To Backup your collection with

Thanks Ruben but I tried backing up to a Seagate 5TB external drive. Same outcome.
I've also repaired the database before attempting the back up.

You can also simply copy the entire database.

Go to File -> Open Database and look where the DB is located. Then navigate there with Windows Explorer and just copy the whole folder to your backup drive

I'm not sure I ever uploaded a collection to the database.
The last successful backup was at least a couple of years ago, but I have added several thousand dvds since then.

Hi DJ Doena. The laptop that I access dvd profiler on is currently with a computer repair shop but I will try this when I get it back. I would imagine though that I'll still get the read stream error message when I try to import it back into dvd profiler. Thanks.

When you copy/paste the original database files with Windows Explorer, you'll circumvent the backup/restore mechanism of the program.

But after you've loaded the DB on the new computer, you should run another DB repair, just to be on the save (safe?) side.
