| Posted: | | | | Also, there is another Richard O'Brien. He was in a movie I have called "Garage Days". And that was pretty much all he was in... I can't find a BY for him anywhere. Just this single IMDb link: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1414417/ | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. | Posted: | | | | And also, there is another John Williams who appears to have played mostly bit parts. But he played a small part in "Fat Man & Little Boy", so I have him in my collection. He also has no BY (well, I'm sure he has one, but I can't find it) and nothing but an IMDb link. Sorry about that. http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0930930/ | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. Submitted for Johnny Guitar. Why on Earth would you need a birth year for names that contain suffixes, i.e., Sr. and Jr.? They are already sufficiently distinguished with the suffix and there is no problem with linking them as they are different names . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | The reason is many of the films have them credited as Harry Stradling weather they are father or son therefore I think their common names would in effect be Harry Stradling, thus linking their names. At the moment the CLT has Harry Stradling 82 titles (163 profiles) which has such films as Jamaica Inn 1939 and Blind Date 1987. |

The suffix in Harry Stradling, Jr. is sufficient to distinguish between father and son. There are probably only a few films done by Harry Stradling, Jr. where he is actually credited without the suffix and those were done well after his father's death in 1970. In all the film's credits in my database where the cinematography was done by Harry Stradling, Jr. he is actually credited on-screen with the suffix. In those few profiles where he is credited without the suffix, the common name should be Harry Stradling, Jr. [Harry Stradling]...in my opinion. I just had a gander at the CLT for Harry Stradling and it's a mess. There are titles in there for Harry Stradling that are actually Harry Stradling, Jr. on-screen. The CLT for Harry Stradling, Jr. is also a mess. There are profiles for the suffix both with and without the period after Jr. In the film's I own, there is a period after Jr. on-screen yet in the CLT he's credited without the period in those very same films. The CLT is just about worthless for determining common name . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |

In my thinking would it be better to have Harry Stradling (1901) credited as [Harry Stradling, Sr.] and Harry Stradling (1925) credited as [Harry Stradling, Jr.] . Does the CLT differentiate between the as credited [Harry Stradling] if there is a BY or not? |

| Posted: | | | | I believe Ken addressed this type of situation. If I remember correctly, the BY is to be used only as a last resort. If the people can be distinguised simply by adding a 'Sr' and 'Jr', that is the way to go. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
