You still abused your vote, you are WRONG.

You have proven one thing to me today, whatever interpretation is applied to the Rules if it is not yours then it is not right. I will be watching very closely.

The EXACT same can be said for you in this.

He didn't abuse his vote. Period.
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

It's not an interpretation. You changed a correct name to an incorrect name.

The link was there. It was John Hughes. When you changed that, you broke the link.

Changing a correct name to 'as credited' can be an error, as it was in this case, when the 'as credited' name isn't the name of the person. 'As credited' is irrelevant when it doesn't match the name of the person.

Put the 'as credited' name in the 'credited as' slot. It's perfect there. It doesn't always work for the person's name though.

There was no linkage showing, James, perhaps Ken needs to address this, sounds like a possible tweak on his side, else I would not have changed it, I think you know that. All it looked like to me was an incorrect entry. Is ther something I missed in what I saw there was no Credited As reference, just John/Hughes>>>>Edmond/Dante

That said you don't want me start discussing well-known who cast votes to accept incorrect UPC #s on images, and Incorrect Ordering of Studios to name two.

BTW James, I just discovered a very similar issue in another profile, that COULD have been linkage. The data displayed just as I have described above. I downloaded it to check, and there is NO linkage, it was simply an erroneous entry for name changing from As Credited without a linkage.

So either I am missing something or...

The linkage is the name. It doesn't show or not show. It's the name. Names link to names when they are the same. There's no tweak needed. To access the 'credited as', edit the role. Those who have the current profile for Maid in Manhattan, when they click on John Hughes, they see the other credits for John Hughes in their collection. If your contribution had been accepted and downloaded by those users, the link would be broken.

I was behind you 100% until you were informed that there was an issue with the new feature.  The rules say to use the "As Credited" field where the person's name differs from the credited name.  It did in this case, you were informed and chose to ignore it.

This is just getting stupid now.  Quit making threats.  This thread started to go in a productive direction while you were gone.  Now that you are back I am worried that Ken will have to lock it again.

Huh! I am not talking about that. I am talking about what I saw on the eval screen only, James There was no apparent linkage, it simply looked as I described it. If a link had been apparent on the eval screen I would not have changed.

As I said Unicus, there was no apparent linkage on the eval screen so it looked like I was changing an incorrect entry. What am I missing and what was I informed of re: the new feature.

You are thinking of the link as only being present when the name and 'credited as' are different. That's what you see in the eval screen. But that's not evidence of a link.

Any name is already a link to any other same name.

DVDP 2.4/2.5:
Name = As Credited

DVDP 3.0:
Name = Link = Common Name = Person's Name

Credited As = As Credited

Note that whereas before Name used to equal "As Credited", that is no longer the case. The name is the link.

The place to input 'As Credited' data has been moved. It's now stored in the 'Credited As' field.

As I said, I am with you on this part.  I would have made the same change as I didn't know about the pseudonym.

The rule for the new feature is as follows:

Use the "As Credited" field where the person's name differs from the credited name.

The only wiggle room I can see in that rule is when you don't know that the name differs.  When you made the contribution, you didn't know so you were covered.  Once you were informed, however, you no longer had that out.  Now I agree, you shouldn't have to do the extra work.  As I said in the Rules Forum, you should have asked James to prove his 'no' vote.  I wouldn't expect you to just take his word for it.  His proof would have given you the documentation for the change.  No extra work for you and the credit is properly set up in the new feature.

I agree with your concept Unicus. The problem for Skip and I is that we're currently PM-impaired. That contributed to this dust up for sure.

Well now we are back to the beginning. There is NOWHERE in the Rules that says our entries must be complete, else I would vote no on nearly everbody because after all they are not doing Full Audits. And as I explained in my discussion about studios if the user enters WDP and does not include BVHE, the Rules say to include the distributor if there is room. If James is correct, and I have yet to see Ken back him up on his interpretation, then I have to re-evaluate my own voting if the data is accurate but incomplete then I must vote No.

I am sorry Unicus, that just seems completely wrong to me. There was as I outlined a way James could have handled it that would have gotten the deisred result. But no user has the right to demand more of any other user than he is willing to provide, as long as the data was correct, which it was.

And allow me to point out that the rules still begin with

"Take Crew Credits from the film credits only; list names exactly as they are in the credits."

What offends me, Unicus is that Janmes and Lopek held a Contribution to try impose their will upon another user. They have the ability to go do the work dig up the documentation and add the non-existent linkage. James just wanted ME to go do moer work so he could get it as he wanted it, now maybe I am wrong I have never gotten a check from James that entitles him or anyone else to make that demand of a fellow volunteer.
