| Posted: | | | | Presumably the off-topic abuse rebutal posts will end up garnering some negative ratings as well. Hopefully this keeps the back-and-forth stuff to a minimum. |

I think it is a good idea, just need to see how all of this will come together. Furthermore it grieves me to see that development time *has* to be spend on something like this. But unfortunatly it does seem necessary. | | | Jean-Paul |

As a possible extra suggestion for this, is a comment required when placing a negative against someone, in that way at least when a complaint is made you can see why what the thought was behind the decision This comment would nt be visible to anyone except yourselves and the person that gave the negative mark

For example, if someone asked how they would do a particular thing in the program, and someone else replied with a particularly good tip - is that when you would give a positive vote, or is that the wrong thing to do? I think that's exactly the intention of the positive end of this:

Quote: We'll soon roll out a new system intended to reward positive helpful posts in our forums, and to deter negativity. Just a thought of mine aiming to waste some more of Ken's time. How about different kinds of scores for different aspects? I mean, you could give a bad rating to someone's bad attitude (let's call them "Nasty" points), but a positive rating to his/her helpful/clever/interesting posts (let's call them "Helpful" points), and have two separate scores, not compensating each other. | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |

Or should we continue to ask people to moderate their posts? I'd certainly plan to use votes only. It might look like nothings happening (won't look good for someone new who doesn't know about it), but hopefully it will be effective. Stuart | | | This is a sig... ... ... yay...

More pleasant according to whom? We all bring different personalities, expereinces, expertise and so on. We are reduced Online to a Society Online where the standards of behavior are determined by the two sets of people, those with a personal agenda against any give user, and those that simply wish to try and control the behavior of otheres according to THEIR sytandards. How pathetic, that Ken's develoment has to interrupted to apeal to those of both these camps that are simp;ly unwilling to act like adults and want to desperately impose their will on SOMEONE or SOMETHING. Fascinating to me that the one's most vocal behind this are the same one's who want to twist the Rules every chance they get.
Here's my prediction, having seen such attempts in the past, this will become a game for some that will be used to magnify their piling on and to minimize debate and discussion of those they don't agree withj.. This wastried with the Ignore" system adn all many users have demonstrated through that system how childish and totally uninterested they are indiscussion deabate. Unfortunately, Ken is poandering to these users, first through the PM ignore, then the Forum and now this. We ARE headed in the wrong direction and down a VERY slippery slope.
I am embarassed for the entire Communityy

I daresay Ken's announcement of a "reputation system" already produced some calming down effects, even before actually starting off. | | | -- Enry |
