Blamed for the disappearance, Abbott and Costello follow their trail to the island where not only do they meet up with Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Monster (Glenn Strange), but a Mad Scientist (Charles Bradstreet) who wants to switch Costello's brain with that of the Monster. My Thoughts:

This is a film I never seen before... but I definitely enjoyed every minute of it. It's Abbott and Costello... what is not to like about these films? Though it is slightly different then most of their other films that I have seen. in this one they went more with physical comedy then all the jokes. It was almost like I was watching Three Stooges instead of Abbott and Costello. Even with that said... this one is well worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:

The Monster Squad is an old favorite of mine. I have watched it countless times and found it to always be good for a few laughs. The lines "the Wolfman has nards!" and "Well there is Steve but he doesn't count!" gets me laughing every time I watch this movie. I like how they have all the classic monsters in this movie. They made the story fun and interesting at the same time. This movie would make a good introduction for kids that are curios about horror movies. If by chance you never seen this movie I would definitely recommend it to all.

My Thoughts:

I always loved anthology horrors. While it is technically an anthology horror... it isn't the way I know anthologies at least. Instead of having 3 or 4 separate short stories along with a wraparound storyline... this one is done more like a regular movie with all the stories intertwined with each other. I think this makes for a nice change of pace. I enjoyed all the stories in this one. I would have to say the girls finding dates for the party was probably my favorite of them. I feel comfortable recommending this one to any horror fan. Well worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:

This is of course a classic horror that I must watch every year around this time. I normally like to save the Halloween movies for Halloween day... but now that I have the entire collection in this awesome blu-rsy set there is no way I would get them all in within the one day so decided to watch them through-out the month. This is of course the one that started it all... and finding out from one of the featurettes on the disc... a movie that was shot very quickly and cheaply. You would never know it watching the movie. I feel they all did an awesome job on this movie! While it would be hard for me to believe... if there is any horror fan out there that never seen this movie... I highly recommend checking it out ASAP!

My Thoughts:

It has been my experience... at least until recently.... that most people would dismiss this movie for no other reason then this one does not have Michael Myers in it. I personally always enjoyed this movie... as I always watched it as a separate movie from the rest of the series. Sure it isn't the best movie I have seen... but I always found it was well worth the time put in to watch it.

Crimson Peak
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds...and remembers.

My Thoughts:
I must say... I really had a good time watching this film. It has great atmosphere and all the visuals was done beautifully. The ghosts in this film was done a bit differently then I have ever seen before... at first I wasn't sure how I felt about it but by the end of the film I decided yes it was different but I liked it. Also without giving too much away I must say this one is more then just a ghost film. And it is one that easily keeps your attention through-out the entire story.  I feel comfortable recommending this one. I for one can't wait to add the blu-ray to my collection when it is released.

Title: Creepshow
IMDb |Wikipedia |Trailer |
Year: 1982
Director: George A. Romero

Stars:
Hal Holbrook as Henry Northrup
Adrienne Barbeau as Wilma Northrup
Fritz Weaver as Dexter Stanley
Leslie Nielsen as Richard Vickers
Carrie Nye as Sylvia Grantham
E. G. Marshall as Upson Pratt

Plot:
Macabre masters Stephen King and George A. Romero conjure up five shocking yarns, each a virtuoso exercise in the ghouls-and-gags style of classic '50s horror comics. A murdered man emerges from the grave for Father's Day cake. A meteor's ooze makes everything...grow. A professor selects his wife as a snack for a crated creature. A scheming husband plants two lovers up to their necks in terror. A malevolent millionaire with an insect phobia becomes the prey of a cockroach army. Add the spirited performances of a fine cast (Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, E.G. Marshall and King himself) and the ghoulish makeup wizardry of Tom Savini. Let the Creepshow begin!

Extras:
Scene Access
Feature Trailers

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite anthology movies. Sure... some of it is right silly but... even so for the most part all the segments are just fun to watch. I think my favorite segment was the one where "A scheming husband plants two lovers up to their necks in terror."... this was the one where Leslie Neilson buried the couple to their necks in the sand on the beach... waiting for the high tide to come. That one then followed closely by the "crated creature" Fluffy. My least favorite has to be the last segment... the one about the bugs. I mean it was ok... just nothing special. But of course I enjoyed all the segments. Normally it is the wrap around story that loses my attention. But this is one of the few that I actually enjoy. Though I must say... I am disappointed in the extras on the blu-ray... nothing other then the Theatrical Trailer.

Rating: Rated R : Horror Violence, Gore and Strong Language
Length: 96 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1

Stars:
Miguel Ferrer as Richard Dees
Julie Entwisle as Katherine Blair
Dan Monahan as Merton Morrison
Michael H. Moss as Dwight Renfield
John Bennes as Ezra Hannon
Beverly Skinner as Selida McCamon

Plot:
From Stephen King, the master of horror on page and screen, comes a new tale of relentless terror. Of a modern-day vampire who flies by night, and lands too close to home ... for comfort.

For Richard Dees (Miguel Ferrer) facts are always stranger than fiction. Every headline is a dead-line. Serial Killers, UFO abductions, tales of molestation, mayhem and murder. To some the tales are unbelievable -- but his faithful readers believe. And now there's a new story. The Night Flier. What is it that flies by night in a dark-winged Cessna, lands at secluded airports and brutally murders local residents? Dees begins to follow the unknown killer in a Cessna of his own, uncovering clues that reveal a pilot more terrifying than he could ever have imagined. A creature so untamed by human nature, that their final confrontation will leave no body unbloodied.

My Thoughts:

Stephen King's take on a vampire legend. Being a vampire movie alone gives it a good chance I will enjoy it... and I definitely did. But it is definitely not the best vampire movie I ever seen. Like It did seem a bit weird... the idea of a vampire flying around in an airplane everywhere he goes. There was a couple things did I liked about this movie though... they way they made Dwight Renfield (the vampire) look... as well as the effect the vampire's blood had when he effected Richard Dees with it. I really liked the use of Black and White in that scene. It really enhanced the spookiness of the scene.

My Thoughts:

This is an entertaining film.... I liked the characters and the storyline. This one is based on not one... but 2 true stories. The life of Julia Child as well as on Julie Powell. An inspiring writer who wrote a blog about making all the recipes in the Julia Child cook book in one year. The one thing I didn't care for is Julia Child's reaction to what Julie was doing. But I guess it can't always go as expected when what you are watching is a true story... as life does not always go good. Worth the time put in to watch it.... though there is better movies out there.

My Thoughts:

This is a film I never even heard of before I found it cheap one day at work and curiosity got the best of me. I got it because it stars Selena Gomez who I used to watch in "Wizards of Waverly Place" with Brittany. When I first bought the disc (last year) I watched the trailer. And lets just say I was happy I got it so cheap! As I didn't have very high hopes of it being a good film. Which is why it took me so long to watch it. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Sure I have seen better movies... but they made it easy to care about the characters. The storyline was interesting and fun. Sure the movie is geared to a younger crowd but I found it well worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:

I find Adam Sandler movies to be pretty hit or miss. In this case I enjoyed it quite a bit. Sure this one has some slow spots but they do not hamper the film any. Plus Adam Sandler in this instant isn't quite as annoying as he normally is.I found parts of this one to be funny... while other parts were right touching, sad even. This one is definitely worth the time put in to watch it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5
