@Ross:

How typical and how sad you are.

@ Surfeur

Only because you and others prefer beating someone, than attempting to get along. Remember it takes all kinds to make a world, not just your kind. How very sad. Trust me I am trying NOT to say what I am really thinking, not that that does any good as demonstrated by these postings, and yet I am supposed to behave myself, we'll see how long it can last. At the current pace...not long, but you people don't believe what I have said, which is typical, yet I continue to be assaulted. Keep it coming...by all means,,, keep showing me how hollow your pleas are.

Look at your behavior around here, and tell me that I'M sad. Sure.

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

Yes, I am telling you you are sad. And a few other things that come to mind, but in an attempt to behave myself I'll not say.

An attempt to behave yourself? Don't make me laugh.

You mean like you did here?

http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=223443

One minute after making this post, you take a shot in a thread that had nothing to do with you, and didn't mention you or any other person.

You are a joke. You are a person who should not be allowed on this forum. Period. You're at the point where you're doing more harm to the community overall than good.

No, Ross, I was not taking a shot. I was asking a very serious question in something of an ironic way. You have a problem and I was asking. The irony which you clearly missed the point of wsa that you had a problem, so I wanted to know if I was expected to help you in view of your own behavior. You clearly don't appreciate the ironic sarcasm. You are the one with the behavior problems as is clear, and probably some Anger Management classes would prove useful, as well, I can't help you with sense of humor issues.

No, you were being rude. Please modify your behaviour as many people in this forum find it unacceptable.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hmm what is this about actually?

Are people in general unhappy with the rules?

I do not understand whats so bad about them, shure I have issues with the title from the front cover part as it can differ from the actual title (e.g. M-I-3). but I have started to follow that rule because, errr well, because of the rules. In case of star wars and episode or no episode its the same thing. I have issues with the CoO too but I try to follow rules here too or change it locally and lock.

But if we all follow the rules and change what we do not like LOCALLY and then lock, the outcome is the same as the alternative wich is a program where you either get imdb data or jsut input everything manually.

Why are there such an uproar over the rules? I admit they are a bit complex perhaps, but they are there and we have to follow them and if everone does we are ok. If we wonder about things we can ask here (and be shot down if its a stupid question hehe). We can not have "guidelines" because then you can interpret everything to fit what you want. What you (or me) want is not necesserily the thing others want. I like things as they are now, however I would welcome a change here and there, But I will follow the rules as they are.(or try to as best I can and ask here if I 'm in doubt)

In case of the remark in the burn in lcd tv post I do understand that skips comment can be read as a insult(I did not). Hovever why do everyone go out of their way to say this ? And be even more rude in the process. Why even post that post here ? is it to rip open old wounds?
Skip has what I recognize as a sharp sense of humor(with irony and sarcasm wich can be taken the wrong way) and mabe he has a little low sense of what people take the wrong way.
But I honestly have seen far worse statements from many of his "enemies" too him. Would I write that sentence he wrote? proparbly not. Would I attack him for it if it was my tv? Proparbly not. Would I attack him if it was not my tv or my post? abselutely not. Things in this forum runs both ways and I can see misunderstandings and insults being trowed BOTH ways so maybe its time to cut some slack and stop doing 13 odd pages about why someone is so bad in the forum and change every single post to this(this post is about rules and guidelines not how bad skip is yet we have several pages of crap being throwed in both directions) . You can say what you want about Skip and his posts, but the fact of the matter is that he knows agreat deal about film and dvd and he is a very important asset to this program. Including the rules wether you like them or not.

Try to keep posts about the topic at hand and try to ignore sarcasm/irony and crapthrowing and we would get a much nicer forum. Maybe not as much fun to read tough haha

Thanks Unicus, your short summary is also exactly how I feel about this.

I was thinking about this last night. As has been said many times before the rules can never hope to cover all eventualities, and to try and make them do so is counter-productive and creating a lot of friction within the community.
So I was trying to think of a way where the odd exception could be contributed, and I thought of this:
A user finds a profile change that, in their opinion, would be wrong if it followed the rules.
So the user starts a poll in the forum and invites the community to vote as to whether they agree or not. It should be pointed out that the voters are to vote on what they think the profile change should be, not what the rules say it should be.
If the community all agree that it is worthy of being an exception then the user submits it, with the contribution notes stating that this does not follow the rules, but according to the poll (with a link) the community believe it should be allowed through.
It would then be subject to a second session of voting by the actual owners of the DVD to see if they agree and if they do, it finally goes to the screeners to see if they agree with the community.
If they agree, then there is a clear comment in the notes to say this is an exception, so it won't be "corrected" at a later date.
If they don't agree, then there is a clear "declined" in the notes to say this won't be allowed as an exception, so don't submit it again.

I hope I've written this in a way that makes sense. At the very least I hope it allows us to continue the (slightly) productive discussion hidden in amongst the insults and shouting.

Actually a good idea, bot how big a percentage of the users do actually go in these forums on a dayly basis?

If that is 2% the minjority would decide over the majority that maybye do not even know there is a forum here that is active.

If a vote is to be used every single user has to get the possibility to vote. Maybe via mail or something.

This voting process could be used in typically title discussion (EPISODE anyone).

Actually the voting process on changes isent excactly videly advertised either. and wouldent that be the same as voting on the change itself.

I would prefer to use the "polling" to get an exception made to the Rules.

If the Rules were updated on a more timely basis, we could avoid repeating the same arguments over and over and over.

Wow.

I've reported your behavior to Ken. I will continue to do so every single time you belittle a user for no reason, which is frequently.
