Quote: Quoting Ken Cole: Perhaps maybe it's something less invasive and maybe less expensive to get a decent internet connection where you are. We researched this heavily and unfortunately none of the providers would work - monthly limits being the most common problem.
FIOS is likely our best hope, maybe in a few years. Speaking of iOS, any clues? Just kidding, pardon me! |

| Posted: | | | | If you get multiple servers for your area, try 'em all. There's one server listed that I can lean out my window and spit on but they give pretty bad responses compared to one farther away. |

Ouch and double-ouch. DSL is all I can get unless I wish to pay Comcast $10k to run a cable up my driveway. Installing a phone line up the same distance? Free. How about a natural gas line? Free. Must be some seriously nice coax. When I worked as a cable installer 10 years ago., if you bought the internet,, Shaw Cable would install the cable even if it was a 1000 feet up a private driveway, no charge! .. ( I hated those jobs).. So what if you installed the cable (@.10 cents a foot) say underground within a plastic tube from your house to the street ,would they then put a booster on one end and do the job from your end of the wire??? and you save $10,000 .. ?? Or is your driveway a few kilometers in length??, ( kinda like the Hearst castle in California..... ) .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Downpload speed isn't too bad, it should be 25MB, but my upload speed should be 3.5MB, so I'm just over 50%. Skynet is the virus! | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

Trust me we've tried everything. Try having them drop a box at the street? Run a LAN cable up your driveway - will need repeaters but that would be less than 10k. |

Quote: b, your ping is awful but I'd take that upload speed any day of the week. Ping is so bad, because he seems to use a proxy (take a look at the distance...). No proxy, rather distant server.
