You can leave a positive or negative feedback to someone's vote on your contribution - which means they can't give YOU anything for contributing but you can give them something for voting.

There is a workaround for giving positives on contributions:

Go to Database and click on the notepad symbol left beside the contributed title. There you can see the authors including the possibility to give votes!

I wonder if that's a bug since the contribution notes are simply hidden forum topics....

Dunno, but it works and IMHO a valid procedure to award 'exceptional' contributions!

But the current process makes it too difficult

I leave (and have received) positive votes for really good contributions. If a contributor has made the effort it takes to enter cast and crew for an entire season of a tv series, I think the least I can do is to give him a positive vote by  two extra mouse clicks.  I don't think two extra mouse clicks is that bad.

As well as a way to punish (for lack of a better term) anyone who puts personal attacks in their contribution notes.

I've found easily the way to give a reputation vote for a contribution, but I don't see what I've to do to give a vote on a vote comment. It's probably evident, but I don't find the way at all.

You can only do this for your own contributions. When looking at the votes here you should see the arrows next to the votes with comments.

Thanks, Achim.  I've wondered how to do this.

Hello? Can anyone help me??

I need to get out of this desert to get to my wedding in time....

I promise not to mention anything about what I (don't) know

Actually, in all seriousness, I like the reputation system because you can give people a for something funny, or helpful etc
I seriously doubt I would ever someone... except perhaps a spam type post which this site gets on the (very) odd occasion
Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen]
Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well

Well, I do not use the red ones either. IMHO only one positive feedback can cause more learning effect than 10 negatives feedbacks. But this is a subject to personal philosophy and experience!

I think 10 negative feedbacks can have the same "learning effect" than one positive feedback, it just depends if the receiver cares about what others think of him/her.
