| Posted: | | | | Well, the rating system appears to be activated now, but I don't see what it even does. You can vote a post positive or negative, but what effect does that have? I don't see any place where you can see how many people voted on a post, or how the vote affects a user's rating or reputation or anything like that. What's the purpose of voting on a post? | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

| Posted: | | | | If you go to My Profiler>Reputation you can see what (if any) posts of yours have been rated. I guess in theory if you said something people liked you will see the positive ratings and hopefully be encouraged to make similar posts. Conversely, if you said something people do not like you should see that as well and know the community didn't like it. Keep it up and you will be limited to what you can do. As the ratings build up you will get a star next to your name (as long as your rating is a positive one - negative ratings do not show up in the forum). If you look at this post from Kathy (our 1st official "star") you will see how it will work. After a while many people should have something similar next to their name. |

| Posted: | | | | Well well, look what arrived in my inbox: Quote: A reputation feedback submission from your account has been removed. Invelos administrators monitor reputation feedback to ensure negative feedback is used only where warranted. In fact, I received three of these messages. And I believe that's the total number of feedbacks I submitted so far... one positive, two negative. EVERY ONE of them was given for what I felt were the correct reasons, based on my OWN SUBJECTIVE OPINION. Surely it's understandable that what is a positive post and what is a negative post to some is not a positive or negative post to others. This is by its very nature subjective. That's why it's called voting. So this whole system then is completely useless, because if you vote someone's post negative or positive, it can just be removed because a mod or admin didn't agree with you. What good is this system? Why even use it? Why not just have admins and mods be the only ones who can submit votes if theirs are the only ones that count? At this point, that's the last I'm using the voting system. I don't want to get my account banned because a mod or admin doesn't agree with my vote. UNBELIEVABLE. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." | | | Last edited: by Grendell |

UNBELIEVABLE. Yesterday there were some erroneous emails sent by Invelos stating that feedback was removed when it actually wasn't. To check to see if any of your feedback was removed, go to the Reputation tab in My Profiler. You'll see a banner that says In the last 7 days, you've submitted X rating feedbacks. Click on that to review the current status of feedback you've given. If you see "OK" in the right side column, everything is fine with your feedback. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Did you check the reputation page to see if these actually were reversed? I (and at least one other I know of) received some similar emails yesterday. Seems as though there was a glitch in the system since nothing was actually reversed. It's in the My Profiler section. This link may work too. If you did that already and the votes were truly reversed then.... nevermind EDIT: OK - well now you know the "at least one other person" is You beat me to it James | | | Last edited: by lyonsden5 |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, I checked the repuatation page. The postive vote wasn't removed, but the two negative ones were, so I pretty much still feel the same way. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

A removal of negative feedback will in no way affect your account, it means only that the admin didn't see any rude behavior in the post. A removal should not be confused with a reversal. Abusers of the voting system will receive a different message. This monitoring is necessary since the effect of negative feedback on the user is immediate and can restrict their posting rights. It has teeth, so we want it to bite only when necessary. If you have any question on how to use the feedback system, please see the faq. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. | Posted: | | | | I would also like to add that voting down a post should be used when a user is being nasty. If they were saying something you personally didn't agree with but were not being a butthead about it, that shouldn't warent a negative vote and would probably be removed if given. |
