The Rules are written for ALL, surfeur, there are no exceptions. The Online database for ALL regions resides in the same place. I would suggest that if you wish to be exempt from the Rules relative, that perhaps those in the French locality should arrange special hosting for THAT part of the database aside from Invelos, then you can do as you please. It si you who are wanting to be traeted differently from the rest of the world.

Here's a very simple and somewhat evil  question, Rick. This is all relevant to you...why?       Yes I am being a smart ummm.

Oh.. I get it. I don't contribute.

Funny YOU bring it up. Of the last 112 contributions I have had to vote on only 2 of them were your... and one of those was incorrect  But hey. You are a legend oin your own mind so let's not let the facts get in the way.

Oppps - forget to add all the

You can say anything you want, as long as you add some          to it... right?

Rick:

And just how many of those were Full audits instead of just a few pieces of data, NOT very many. Full audits take a long time.

As to your claim of one being wrong, that is YOUR opinion, and I would point out to you that BOTH polls taken since then have said your Opinion was WRONG.

Actually, the last poll on this is running 50 to 44 against your position.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

As I mentioned waaaay back in this thread (earlier today), if you wish to submit a profile, set it up to conform with what is listed on the rules contribution page.  Then after you submit it, alter it to match your personal preferences and then lock the fields you edited.

That is how you do it, Dr. On top of that once you lock a title; when you upload the Invelos server will create a clone of your data minus artwork.

Very interesting!  I recently submitted contributions updating the profiles for three Region 3 DVD releases of Shaw Brothers movies.

I note today that they have been declined on the basis that I did not provide the source of the information I inserted, which seems to relate to cast and crew.

IN fact, my Contribution Notes for all three noted the source, CINEMASIE.

I can accept that a panel member might not recognise the name.  But, it seems to me, an email to check the reference would have more easily resolved the matter than outright rejection.

Not that it worries me.

I am happy to contribute from time-to-time as the quid pro quo for the Profiles I download.  I do my best to follow the rules and, if my contributions do not conform for some reason, then I expect rejection.

If they are not wanted so be it!  But on one uninformed vote?

I continually see new names in the voting screens and on contributions, and my collection isn't that big.

Please, as you continually see new names on contributions, can you give me one or two new contributor on french zone 2 ?

No.  I don't do Region 2 DVDs.  I was making a point you apparently missed.

YOU missed something.
I wanted to show you that your vision of zone1 problems is not true everywhere. But the problem of off-putting contribution rules IS true everywhere and when there are very few contributors, it can be significative to make them stop contributing. Try to consider you are not alone in the world.

Sounds like YOUR problem, bud, not mine.  You seem to have an aversion to authority - as in following rules that were created for the benefit of everybody, not just you.  I don't have one bit of sympathy for you.  If you think you're too good to abide by the rules, go ahead and don't contribute - cut off your nose to spite your face, as the saying goes.

If it is as you have described, then it was rejected because your sole listed source was some third party site/book/whatever, and NOT the disc itself.  Primary source is ALWAYS the DVD, with the cover as a backup to that.  Even if they didn't recognize the source you named, its obvious it wasn't the disc, and that trumps everything else.

Why do you keep stating incorrectly that you need to lock data for it to clone? It clones local data regardless of lock state.

Ken has confirmed several times this is no longer the case with version 3.

It looks like a 3rd party database, in much the same way as IMDB is.

The reason for stating the source is as much to ensure it is a valid source for the data as anything else. For Profiler purposes 3rd party databases are not valid for cast and crew.

Sucks when the dvd's don't have a subtitled translation of the cast and crew, but there you go.

The only frustration I have, is when an image contribution is declined, despite there being up to a 20-1 yes vote.
As it is basically a subjective element of a profile, surely such a great majority should dictate that it is a preferable image?
But it appears the screener/autobot follows the 1 no vote.

Well, in fact I knew that from the beginning, since I've read many topics in these forums.
I just regret that it seems impossible to have a quiet discussion where everybody tries to understand the arguments of the other party.

I have personnally no problem, I'm very happy with dvdprofiler. But I think the system is going wrong and I tried without any success to alert about it.

Thank you for your support

I can only say it again Surfeur, what do you propose ?  I don't think anyone here will tell you that they are thrilled with the rules, on the contrary I'm sure everyone wishes we didn't need them but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Saying that they're going in the wrong way doesn't change the situation, maybe you should join the contribution rules committee (if you haven't already) and make you representations there.

I'm sorry but you can't come here, complain of something that you feel is a problem and expect everybody else to come up with a solution for you.  If you think the rules should not apply in R2 or in your locality, you have to "formally" bring that up in the contribution rules comitee forums.
