Obviously Hal, you have a problem with reading and comprehension, I provided SPECIFIC information in my notes where the Overviews came from.

Skip

It makes no difference.  They did not come from the covers.  The fact that you added them does not trump the fact that a "Simple episode list" is specifically allowed by the Rules and includes episode numbers!  If you want to add summaries in addition to that, fine, but you don't get to remove the episode numbers!

So he added episode synopses and now is bitching about a legal episode number?

Quote:
Simple Episode list applies to the PARENT profile list

I can't seem to find that in the rules Skip.

Quote:
A simple list of Episodes may also be added to the standard overview. Do not add episode synopses to the overview field, but these can be added to the local non-contributed “Notes” field.

Now BTW tas and Hal, I contributed the synopses and they were accepted, i recognized the confusion in the issue, had Hal simply gone to a simple Episode listing I would not have objected because of that confusiuon. However, Hal chose to include FICTITIOuS data not found on the Printed material, which is in violation of the rules. I would have hoped he would have seen that and simply re-contributed, but that is expecting far too much rationality from Hal.

This is a joke, right?

So let me see if I have this right, Hal adding "FICTITIOus" (your word not mine) data is wrong, but you adding "FICTITIOus" data is OK?

It doesn't have to be funny to be a joke.

The standard rules is the rules for the everyday normal profiles... non- boxset rules and non-TV Series Rules. And I will support my claim with the same exact post I made the last time this came up....

I see what you mean now. I'm reading the rules a different way.
Because we're talking about profiles for TV series, I take "standard rules" to refer to the standard TV series rules, whereas you read it to mean to go back to the standard profile rules.
If you think this difference in interpretation could cause problems, maybe we should request a clarification - or am I the only one reading the new rule this way?

The reason I don't read it that way is because in the introduction they call the main set of rules (everything other then TV Series Rules or Boxset Rules) Standard Rules.  see..

Quote:
These rules apply to all kinds of profiles, but there are two special cases where the rules need clarifications. Where you see the icons shown below, refer to the special instructions at the end of this document. These are titled Movie Box sets and TV Series on DVD.
Box sets containing more than one film
TV Series on DVD

Note: The standard rules do apply for these special cases; the sections clarify specific ways the rules apply to box sets and television series on DVD.

So since that is what Invelos classifies as Standard rules in the introduction... I can only believe that when they say apply the standard rules... they mean what they themselves classified as the standard rules. Besides... if they meant the TV Series rules they wouldn't have to tell you to go back to the "Standard Contribution Rules... as you were already in the TV Series rules. All they would have said use the TV Series rules or the above rules... but Standard Contribution Rules would be the main profiler rules. So no I don't think there needs to be a clarification. Actually not sure how else to say it other then the Standard Contribution Rules anyway.

I hope someone (Ken?) makes a decision about how this should be done.  The Urinary Olympics going on between Skip and Hal over Perry Mason Season 2 Volume 2 seems quite childish and wasteful of voters' (read my) time.  Personally I prefer the episode numbering starts anew with the second volume.  But I can live with it either way, as long as it's consistent across the whole series (Season 1 Volume 1 through Season X Volume Y).
Another Ken (not Ken Cole)

Ken:

For the record I agree with you on both counts. Though I can see Hal's POV, I think because of the length constraints we currently labor under in dividers I think starting over is more advantageous. However, the divider isn't my issue with Hal, my issue with Hal is the inclusion of fictitious numbers in the Overview that do not appear on the Cover, and the inclusion of Disc 3 and Disc 4 which because of the way the Back cover is configured is clearly not part of the Overview IMHO. That however is open for discussion, the inclusion of non-existent numbers is NOT.

All Hal needs to do is follow the Rules and at the very least remove his non-existent data, I can't respect him for trying to ram a rule-breaking Contribution through the system. There are NO episode numbers involved in the Overview of Perry Mason. His Disc number inclusion, while I completely disagree with him on it being part of the Overview, I can see his POV and would not vote No, but his inclusion of hallucinatory data is another story entirely.

Thus far the voting speaks loud and clear about the preference of those who have participated.

So if the voting supports you, Hal, it is OK to break the Rules.  I don't think so. I have known for awhile that you do not respect the Rules, but you have now proven it.

Another Red Herring.

We are talking about single season tv sets that are divided into two separate releases.  In the case of Perry Mason we're talking about 39 episodes, which pretty much will max out any single season.

Whether you start over or not, the most you need is two digits for the number.  So how is continuing the numbering taking up any space needed for the title?????

As you are so quick to point out to others, Skip, you know nothing about me!

Whether to start numbering over or not is not specified in the rules.

If you think it is, please point it out to us!

Hal: What about the Rules do you not understand, BUD.

"Overviews should match the back of the DVD case exactly."

Do you see numbers on the backc case....I don't. You therefore are NOT following the Rules and you are inserting non-existent data, that goes against the Rule as written. You don't comprehend the meaning of the word EXACTLY.

If that's true, Hal then you don't want me to say what I am thinking.
