Yes, they have some issues they also have a way bigger pool of idiots to muck with things.

In order to FIX the actors w/ many names is to have a linked DB system that is maintained server side vs user side.

IMDb has one big advantage over our database, and this is resulting from the entirely different starting point:

IMDb has only one profile per movie (because they started as, and in fact still are, a, if not The, movie database), we have one per each release of the movie (because we started as DVD-database).

IMDb has it much easier, they have (as 100% subcompany of Amazon) the by far better financial background, they only needed to clean out their own backyard, and even they can't manage it.

We, on the other hand, are demanding features from our database that it originally wasn't designed for. This is forcing the developer to (more or less) shoe-horn features, that need overly complicated rules to make the data compatible with the capabilities of the chosen database format.

In theory "our" Common Name system could be much more efficient than the system chosen by IMDb (Tom Cruise gets for what reason ever credited as "Tom Crooze" -> look for Cruise and set "Credited As" to Crooze -> done).
Fact is that many people aren't aware of these capabilities, consider it to be too complicated (which it isn't, at least it isn't more complicted then having to memorize a 12 digit UID) and boycott (for not saying "sabotage") the system by flooding it with masses of incorrect entries.
These "incorrect" (in the sense of "not being compatible with our database") entries are strangely mostly IMDb-data.

And exactly there is the crux, while our data is 100% IMDb compatible, the other way simply doesn't work.

But rest assured, the complete re-design of the database is to be expected soon.
Shortly after the release of the Mac-OS version ...
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

So, how about we start this thread? I'm far from an Anime expert, so if some of these should be counted more than once, let me know. Most of the foreign credits will be for the English language version only.

There was a lot of overlap between the names, so results may be surprising, and I believe they may be increasing in favor of Steve Blum.

NB: Steve Bloom is a film editor/screenwriter/producer. Steven Jay in Las Vegas: Season 3 is Steven Jay Porus.

Credited as Steve(n) Blum, David Lucas, Steve(n) Jay Blum, Steven Jay, Andrew Watton, Brandon Jeremy, Roger Canfield, Richard Cardona, Daniel Andrews.

One problem and I have seen already is him having 2 different credits in one series. I have never got why people would have so many different names. I can understand if it changes do to a marriage or divorce. Seems to be an odd way to work around a contract deal.

I have the following :

All-Star Superman
Armitage III
The Avengers Earths Mightiest Heros
Blood: The last Vampire
Cowboy Bebop ( Series and Movie )
FF 7 ( Advent childern ? )
GitS
GitS SAC
Green Lantern Emerald Knights
Hulk vs
RE : Degeneration
Serial Experment Lain ( this one was a snoozer )
Superman/Shazam
Ultimate Avengers
Wolverine and The X-men

As some of these are series over 20+ eps do we just check 1 disc of credits or all ?

Usually we give one credit per season for a series. If two different variations, we'll give both a credit. Hopefully we'll have one winner and one common name to link them all back to.

I added some that I could find on Netflix streaming. In each case I verified that a DVD version existed, which was all except AniMen: The Galactic Battle. Some were profiled in DVDP that had no cast added!

I'm going to assume they are all single movies or a single episode/season unless you tell me otherwise.

If it is multi-seasoned, make sure you check an episode from each season. Use external sources to discover which episode he might be in if not a regular, to make it easier to verify.
