| Posted: | | | | For the most part, I am not replacing any of my DVDs with BD. There will be some exceptions where I really want the improved video quality, but there won't be many of those.
I am, however buying far fewer DVDs. This can be a challenge due to the van having a DVD player and not a BD. My son gets a bit frustrated sometimes with that. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not exactly replacing but, have purchased many of the same titles I have on DVD now on BluRay. Usually because it is a particular movie I like or I got a good deal on the BluRay. I have been keeping the DVD by placing it in the same case as the BluRay movie my own personal BluRay + DVD combo. Mainly due to wanting to save on shelf space and the resale value of DVDs is so poor I would rather keep the DVD than try and sell if for a couple of dollars.
I have not been replacing my DVDs for BluRays because of special features, I find myself watching special features less and less. All my new purchases have been on BluRay the only DVD purchases have been if it is something I want and it isn't available on BluRay.
One thing I really like about BluRays (besides the improvement in both sound and picture) is many of them are Region free so I can import movies not available in the US on DVD or BluRay. | | | Are you local? Quality is the deciding factor. Although there were occasions when the extras had something to do with the decision to buy. There is another reason also. If the DVD version has the movie spread over two discs, I might buy the Blu-ray just to have it on one disc. I'm horribly lazy when it comes to putting the second disc in the player! | | | Just in from somewhere left of the middle of nowhere The Holy See Hell |

| Posted: | | | | I only replace 2 dvd's but plan to replace all when they drop to a decent price. I only have 10 blu-ray titles and my goal is to buy 2 month but was unable to buy any in January and February doesn't look good either. Then again it's not a contest right? |

I think people are missing out when they don't buy a movie in blu because in their minds the picture wont be that much better. Or you hear "it's just a comedy, I don't need to get it in high def". Those people are missing out! The movie experience isn't just about what you see but about what you hear as well. Now if they can only figure out how to get smellivision it would be sensory overload! |

| Posted: | | | | I'm new at BluRays, and I've converted a couple of my favorite DVD's to BluRays:
Close Encountes of the Third Kind Grease Hairspray Poltrgeist The Passion of the Christ Cujo Independance Day Beowulf Sleeping Beauty Snow White The Wizard of Oz
I will only dpouble-dip for my favorite titles. I have over 1,000 dvd's, that is WAY too many to start converting everything. | | | "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today." - James Dean OneWayFilms.net |

| Posted: | | | | I would only upgrade if the DVD is full-screen/non-anamorphic or the BD has a better version (Directors Cut) than the DVD, for me the difference in picture quality isn't that big and since I only have two speakers and mostly use headphones anyway the sound is not so important. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | I'm replacing specific DVD's (i.e., my favorites) because BluRau PQ is virtually always significantly better and the sound is much better as well. New titles are always bought in BluRay. | | | Lee E Florack My System Diagram System Pix | | | Last edited: by lflorack |

Here's an example where the difference is really striking. You might want to check the reviews here, many of which contain screen caps that will show you how significant the difference is. |

OK, that was a HUGE difference, when I received my player it included a BD "Batman Begins". Since I already owned it on DVD I watched them in parallel mode (BD-player/DVD player) and decided the difference wasn't big enough for replacing - I will keep the site you mentioned and think again. | | | |
