I would prefer that the episode numbers be left off, if the show producers did not provide them.

There are already episode titles that have exceeded the space allowed them and the profile provider just added a second divider, sorry who or what TV show, I don't remember.

Some TV episodes are number by the show example: 'Dark Shadows' are numbered from 1 to 1245 and not all episodes are available. A lot of 'Animes' have their own numbering system.

Generally, I number episodes in my TV series profiles depending on the series.
US series SSEE, where is SS is the series number and EE ios the episode number, but I don't contribute them.
.
UK series usually come in "sets" and unusually have a smaller number of episodes, so I don't number them.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

A little clarification is needed here.

Yep.
Or, a full rewrite:

If the DVD or DVD packaging specifically numbers the episodes, use that number in the divider. Otherwise leave'em blank.

Skip apparently has nothing better to do than run around after each and every one of my contributions to find some nit-picking reason to either vote no or to re-contribute it for some inane reason (usually a personal preference, BTW).

From the TV series rules:

Complete Series/Season & Anthologies of Episodes - A simple list of Episodes may also be added to the standard overview.

You and some others have done the same thing, largely the reason for you, was because of your blatant PERSONAL attack in your notes. You couldn't just simply fix a mistake..

@ tas:

For your reference that referred to the Episode numbers which Hal included in his Overview but do not EXIST on the printed material that comes with ST: TNG. In other words Hal violated the Rules and got away with it by including NON-EXISTENT data. The numbers coulkd be included with the Dividers because we are dealing with Disc data, but the Overview is NOT disc data.

Well, let's at least get the facts straight shall we Skip.

THERE ARE NO EPISODE SUMMARIES INCLUDED IN THE ST:TNG TV SETS!

They were added BY YOU, from god only knows where.

According to the Rules, a simple episode list may be added to the Overview  A simple episode list INCLUDES the episode numbers.

When you added YOUR episode summaries from god only knows where, you did not include the episode numbers.

The Rules say: "When there is no overview on the case, add a simple, self-written overview of 1-2 paragraphs".

They DO NOT say you can add an episode summary for each episode included!

Technically, I should have REMOVED THE EPISODE SUMMARIES since they are not included in the DVD release AT ALL, but I felt that your episode summaries were worthwhile, SO I LEFT THEM ALONE and only added the episode numbers that should have been there if you had not added the summaries.

But you just cannot leave well enough alone!

Let it go, Skip!

Your work on Perry Mason: S2 V2 Discs 1 and 2 was extremely sloppy!  That's a fact.  There were numerous blatant errors (which you are trying to recontribute on 3 and 4).  Try concentrating on QUALITY instead of QUANTITY!

Obviously Hal, you have a problem with reading and comprehension, I provided SPECIFIC information in my notes where the Overviews came from.

It makes no difference.  They did not come from the covers.  The fact that you added them does not trump the fact that a "Simple episode list" is specifically allowed by the Rules and includes episode numbers!  If you want to add summaries in addition to that, fine, but you don't get to remove the episode numbers!

Simple Episode list applies to the PARENT profile list, but it figures, but I am not surprised this would have you flummoxed. At what point would we have an Overview, hal.

You are correct on this.  The child profiles are to be created using standard rules.  Those rule say, "When there is no overview on the case, add a simple, self-written overview of 1-2 paragraphs."  From what I can gather, the overviews on these profiles did not come from the case.  Since they didn't come from the case, the addition of episode numbers is not a violation of the rules.

Or am I missing something?

As stated in the Rules:

"A simple list of Episodes may also be added to the standard overview."

Do you comprehend the word "added"....."to the standard overview"

They are not in place of overviews nor are "summaries" in place of episode lists.

The Rules for "Disc-Level profiles say to use the "standrad rules" for entering data.  They say nothing specific about Overviews.  Therefore the "standard" rules apply.  Since we are talking about a TV Series, then the standard TV series Rules for Overviews applies!  which takes us back to "A simple list of Episodes may also be added to the standard overview."

I can certainly understand your confusion over these convoluted, circular references!

Yes....the standard Rules refer you to the TV Set Rules for TV series, so you must use them to determine the Overview for ALL TV series...parent and children!

Interestingly enough, your conclusion is still correct.  Because they did not come from the covers, no data in them is "wrong" unless it is factually incorrect.  Adding the episode numbers would certainly be accurate data.
