So what you meant to say was: There are many cases where end credits do not satisfy me.

OK, Martin, you are true

And you, do you really like cases 4, 5,  7...  ?

7/ When there is a spelling mistake on a role

No problem again - credited as now that the Rules allow for it and things are really starting to come together with agreements on common names (I've even had to use this on a DVD which was a series of 4 interviews and they mis-spelled one of the 4 interviewees names!)

I wrote about role, not name...

I am the truth? Thank you, but I am not the brother of Jezus...

To answer your question: No, I do not like the way a lot of the credits are made, but I also want to follow the rules as much as possible or else I could not contribute to the online database. And as I like to share information, I just have to swallow my personal preferences in a lot of cases.

Agree on those. I think it would be nice to have a "Top-billed (rank)" window beside the "Voice" and "Uncredited" check boxes.

3/ When names or roles are capitalized

Follow the rules; use normal capitalisation

What is meant with normal capitalisation or as the rules state - use standard capitalization rules?

Should I use the capitalisation rules wich are defined for titles in the contribution rules (capitalise every word exept joining words) or should I use the capitalisation I learned in school for the english language (capitalise only first word, names and I)

Example:
Woman in Red Dress or Woman in red dress

Excuse me if this question sounds dumb for native speakers but I am not very familiar with english.

The way I've always done it and seen it done in the majority of cases is Woman in Red Dress. Whether that is technically correct with the rule I wouldn't care to try and guess these days.

That would be the intent, Nick, but I am with you otherwise, maybe the do-nothing users have a different thought.

Why?

Two reasons:
1/ When an actor has a "credited as" enter, it is shown in different form in the list in dvdprofiler.

2/ I really have nothing to do to know how an actor (or an actress) is credited. The only important thing is to choose a common name, and I find very interesting the job which is done by users to elaborate such a list.

Gotta agree with Skip on this one.  I contribute based on the rules...I figure it is the least I can do...then 'fix' the cast list to be the way I prefer it.  It really doesn't take that much extra time to do.  I am seriously considering using James' method, however, as it will make it easier to recontribute if needed.

I also agree, and now keep everything which doesn't follow the rules locally.

But what I can say is that the nearly 400 profiles I contributed (only first contributions, but 5 or 6) before there were comments requested on first contribution were quite all accepted and not changed after, except to add CoO. So they are probably not so bad.

Now, I will not write on comments that I follow the rule as sometimes I don't follow them. I am sure that if I lied, nobody would see it as my contributions are in french and I suppose people who accept contributions don't have the DVD to verify. But I refuse to do this and stopped contributing, though I think it is a loss for the database when nobody else contributes those titles.

It is rusty as hell, but you might be amazed at my capabilities not just in French. I won't claim fluency any long, not after 30 odd years, but some basic comprehension in French and several other languages as well, which i studied during my college days back when we all lived in caves. But that's beside the point.

Whatever works for you.  Nobody is required to contribute so I hold no animosity towards those that don't.

That being said, I honestly don't understand the problem.  I, as you, prefer the top billed actors to come first in my cast lists.  I also want to contribute.  To solve that problem I audit the title, in accordance with the rules, and contribute.  Once that is done, I run the opening credits again and move the top billed actors to the top and lock the profile down.

Unfortunately, that method prevents me from contributing again should something go wrong.  Because of that, I am going to adopt James' method...using a divider and listing both opening and closing credits...that way, if something goes wrong I can just copy the cast list, remove the extra cast, contribute and paste them back in.

Thanks, again, for the suggestion James.
