Not everything is about you Skip (and, for the record one last time, it was updated right off the IVS site prior to uploading, but let's not let the facts get in the way)

But that's OK cause I know something you don't know.

You are just as guilty of that situation as anyone else... besides, I don't even grasp what that has to do with the topic at hand.

On this, Skip and I agree.

Before a submission is even contemplated, please update your database, removing all locks. See exactly what the online database has in the profile under consideration. Only then, after you use your powers of reason, should you contribute any chages to a profile. To do otherwise is not only incomprehensible, but it is wrong.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

AIUI (though I haven't seen the post) Ken has said future 3.1.x releases will be adding more new data fields.

I've not seen that post either.  He did say there were more new features in the works still for 3.1.  But I've yet to see him say one way or another if that will mean new fields.  Of course I've not hit the beta section yet, so there could be something new from him out there.

agreed this is getting a bit crazy, but sometimes things have to get done,

yes - but doing it now means that the changes to the slip covers could get lost and have to be done again. Did you miss the part where Ken noted that this change WILL BE LOST if downloaded by a non beta user. And since (at this time) submissions are allowed by non beta users then this change could get overwritten in the main database.

Why is it so difficult to wait a couple of weeks until the only submissions can be carried out by the latest version? And so avoid losing this information.

I am at a loss.

Please explain to me the urgency?

In the meantime I suggest you set up an Yahoo account and use what used to be its calandar facility to set up reminders to yourself so that in a weeks time you can re-do every single submission you have done with slip covers.

And set this to a continuous weekly update until the beta is completed.

Thank you. This was a public service announcement.

??? Skip, sorry to mention this, but I've noticed that with many of the profiles that you originally submitted in March were heavily corrected and approved back on Intervocative, but the old uncorrected data was submitted here.

Maybe we need an option to "skip this item" from voting - like we have in profile updates - and that we could bulk load all those contributions for TV series that are obviously THINPac-only contributions.

You do -- its called NEUTRAL.  You can rip through a huge number of titles whacking that in a quick hurry.

I am aware of that, I am also aware that for some reason despite auditing sometimes the Online doesn't match what I have done. Fortunately it is not a lot of titles. But in the particular instance to which I refer, the user NEVER updated his database and, as far as I am concerned since he had not updated his Db, he knowingly mass contributed bad data..

I look forward to one day Disney-Be, actually having a clue about anything he says....but i won't hold my breath. for him

I am confused now. Are you talking about another user or yourself?

Also irritated that you are claiming that contributions you made (and were supposedly approved) were not merged into the online database.

Anyway, the above is just teasing... There are in fact more than just a few of those profiles Katatonia mentioned. During some of my audits and during the comparison of updates I eventually got really good in spotting which profiles originalted from you Heck, it's human! You were in a gold rush (as you call such moments) and forgot to update you profiles first.

Only thing that confuses me is, that you always said you had two databases, one ofr the online and one for local. Now I am wondering why you didn't use the online version to upload your profile

I don't understand your comment?

Ken mentioned that the  slip cover change would be ignored by non beta users. I am just repeating what he has already mentioned as a possible problem.

He can't "future-proof" it.. what ever that means.

By "Future Proof" I mean that DVDP would honor any value downloaded from the online database even if you can't set it to that value.

For example, if the current release version was future proofed on the case types, they would still see the new case type on the DVD information though they couldn't set it to that item.

May not be exactly easy to implement though, but the programmer in me is already brainstorming!

Nice try, Achim. i can understand your confusion, your comment is confusing enough. I think your TFH is short circuiting your thought processes. Out of 3000 titlesmaybe 100 or so of my titles might have slipped past me. The user to whom I refer Contributed sveral hundred titles and I have yet to find a SINGLE one that I have not had to re-structure because he failed to update his database. And when I go back check and discover that some of them had been fully audited as far back as 18 months PRIOR to March, there is no excuse. These were not the simple kinds of things, that crop up where for whatever reason the data does not get completely translated. These profiles are a total wreck. I have discovered instances where I thought a user had discovered I had made and accepted and perhaps contributed here, only to find at a later date that the typo belonged to the user that I thought was fixing a typo, That is going to happen...for a very long time, we can all only try our best...or in some cases not...and in others not try at all.
