The point is that here we have user who adopts a holier than thou attitude and pretends to be the arbiter of Rules and now he has been caught up in his own hypocrisy. He like to play that game, so turnabout is fair play and he no longer has any credibility to support the attitude he brings here. He either follows the Rules or he doesn't, and he simply trying to rationalize his position. He has tried to trash me for a long time and now he has been trashed himself.

I'll feel better when he follows the Rules. And re-comntributes the good data.
You won't allow me to treat it like a hobby, paul, I am constantly berated by all forms of hypocites here, including this particular one. The Rules are the rules and he is no different than anyone else.

| Posted: | | | | All this arguing is over a pre-release profile? Short of the title, most pre-release information is crap anyway since it can't be verified against the disk. Yes, I know SRP comes from somewhere other than the disk but this seems like a whole lot of energy wasted on a title that will have to be re-audited after release anyway. |

It says nothing about changing the SRP for a penny under ANY circumstance, I don't care how wide your Conbtribution is. The Rule SIMPLY states DON"T DO IT. There is NO room for any interpretation and the Rule was written for this precise reason.
And I have advised the person that voted yes that you have violated the Rules so I anticipate he will change his vote. The rule doesn't say "under ANY circumstance. I don't care how wide your Contribution is." It says: "Do not make contributions with changes of a few cents/pence to the SRP." This can be interpreted to mean "Do not make contributions with ONLY changes of a few cents/pence to the SRP". It's just like how you interpret the rule for overview ("If words are highlighted in italic or bold on the case, then identify them with ‘single quotation’ marks.") to read "If words are highlighted in italic or bold on the case, then identify certain words of your choosing with 'single quotation' marks." | | | ...James

You and lopek can try and squirm your way out of this. there is not room for interpretation. the Rule does not provide for such insignificant changes in SRP, it simply says don't do it PERIOD. And to believe otherwise is pure hypocrisy. But then... You people are simply unbelievable and just keep reinforcing why i won't make anymore Contributions.

I get ( ) that you disagree, which is fine with me. I am not going to go around making accusations that you just disagree because it is me, as that would be silly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's all good. To clarify, to make sure you get it ( ), I disagree with your interpretation of the rules, I think that the rules allow for the contribution I made. You've made you vote (which should have been enough imo), pm'd to try to get others to change their votes, had your temper tantrum in the forum, everyone knows about it, so I think we should now be able to move on. If my interpretation is incorrect, and the contribution is declined, then I will happily resubmit again, leaving the incorrect info in the database as you desire. What is the harm in waiting to see who's interpretation is correct - if my contribution gets voted down you can bask in the glory, be smug and tell me you told me so. If it gets accepted, you will get your wish for the incorrect SRP to remain, and all the rest will get resubmitted. I don't see how you can lose. I'm not going to throw a hissy-fit if people disagree with me and stop contributing, I will just move on. | | | Andy

Skip<shakes head> Kinda funny how you can put your interpretation hat on for Overviews and Disc Dividers in Cast and Crew to suit your preferences but then freak out over an interpreation of the SRP rule for a change that you agree is correct. Wait...maybe you really want the SRP change but you said you don't so we'll disagree with you and more will vote yes. | | | ...James

You have broken the Rules...get it. You have proven yourself to be a hypocrite...get it.
I want you to follow the Rules, which you are NOT doing. But I can't say that I am surprised, either

| Posted: | | | | I'm sorry Skip, but I've got to agree with James and Andy on this one - I've always interpreted the SRP rule to refer to contributions that only contained that change. If the change is only part of a much larger update then I see no problem with it. The rule can be interpreted both ways, and as far as I'm aware there's never been clarification from Ken as to which interpretation is correct. You've already given your opinion in the notes for the "no" vote, why not just leave it at that and see what happens? It would actually be useful to use this as a test case: if it gets declined, then your interpetation is correct, if it gets accepted then the other interpretation is correct. Just report back which way the decision went, and we can use it as precendence on subsequent submissions. |
