Your on-line collection is still there.  You can download that and that should solve most of your problem.

Go to Online -> DVD Profiler Online.  Sign in and select 'Download'.  That should get you the 517 profiles that are in your online collection.  You will only have to re-enter 33 profiles after that.

it depends how many profiles he originally had - it sounds as if after downloading then he has 550 missing..

You might be correct.  I just went back and looked at his collection and there are a lot of missing numbers.  While the high number is 517, there aren't 517 profiles in that list.

I don't think so. If I understand him correctly, that's what he already did and what caused his problem in the first place.

He started with a collection (probably the one currently residing on the Invelos server) and made numerous and significant changes, added some more DVDs, and so on. Then, he wanted to bring the changed local db up to date and mistakenly did a download from the Invelos server via the online collection feature, overwriting his changed local db in the process.

What he should have done (as that's what he really wanted) was a profile and cover scan update.

So, now he's back at square one, and since he didn't do a back up, I'd say he's sh*t-out-of-luck regarding recovering his work, since the data he changed locally never made it to Invelos but only existedm on his PC.

Speaking of that...How do you keep the update from changing what you have edited/personalized?
For example, I don't want anything in the title line except the name of the movie.
I keep going through the list and deleting the (Widescreen), (3 disk release), (Target Bullseye Special), etc.  Then if I update the profile/cover scans it changes them back.

What's the secret?

There's two ways: you can either right-click on the DVD and lock the title after editing.
Or the easier way is to use the display options and tell the program simply not to display the edition or the original title. That way the data remains, you just can't see it!

You are surely right about that "or get bored" part.  I have about 700-800 profiles that pop up every time I check the main db and it's been taking me forever to work that list down.  I usually do it alphabetically and pick a letter at a time (after I've previewed the lower letters added since my last download.)
