Funny. I've been saying for a while that some features should only be available to paying customers (particularly profile submissions) and was always howled down. Now that it has happened, nearly everyone seems happy about it.

The whole finnish userbase has been wanting this to happen

The whole? No, there's surely one user not happy about it. And he has many names.

Eheheh.
Can you believe that was the first thing I remembered when I read about registered-only contibutions?
With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress.

I'm not condemning anyone for trying to make a profit.

But for the record, I don't use ANY non-free software.  LINUX.

After years of using the program, I was ready to plonk down for an IVS Premium Registration but the uncertain nature of the future of the program made me change my mind.

As soon as I saw DVDProfiler 3.0, I handed over the cash immediately. With the excellent USD-GBP exchange rate at the moment, it only worked out a little over £15, which I think is nothing for how long I've used the program and how hard Ken has obviously worked on this new release.

Fine, but the resources required to maintain the online database cost money. Making the choice to only use free software is fine, but you will be missing out on a lot of stuff.

Only the database alone will probably cost loads of money to maintain...

Yeah, maybe we can have different flavors of the program?

"Ken & Gerri's (insert your favorite flavor & user name here).

Might not go over as good as the B&J ice cream, but you never know!!

That made me think of a line of "fake" radio commercials a local station had around here for Dickens Cider Farms...

I never saw DVDP as "freeware"..... I used it about a week and bought it.... And with the release of DVDP 3.0 from a "new" company I count myself as fortunate that Ken is willing to honor the purchases from IVS... Did he have to? leagaly probably not but he did and I thank you.....

And for those of us who frequent the forums... don't yall love the registration indicators?!! I dare someone to complain who doesn't buy!

The icons that appear next to the user name. The eye = unlimited DVD Profiler registration, the PDA = mobile registration.

Lack off = not yet registered.

I was exactly the same, i wanted to support the program but felt that if it was no longer being developed then there was no point. I bought it straight away after finding out about the new version.
Here's to a long future of updates (both program and db) and to a great program
Cheers Ken
