| Posted: | | | | About 150 entries down in my "Owned" list, the profiler just stops displaying the collection hints. When I go higher up again it displays it normally. I already tried the database repair. What else can I be doing wrong? | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. | Posted: | | | | Could be a RAM problem.
Jump to a random profile in your collection list, wait for about 30 seconds and then check if the Hint appears.
If it does, your problem is most likely located in a misconfigured SWAP-file and/or insufficient RAM size. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | OK guys, I just checked my desktop version and it goes to 424 then quits. I quit every program restarted my computer and waited for a complete reboot including no more disk activity. I only launched DVDP and at 424, hints; 425, no hints from there to bottom of 3524 profiles. I do have about 8 or 10 parents that do not have #s so bottom line is 430 to 435 +/-. I have an: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ 2.80 GHz 8 GB RAM 64-bit OS 512 mb nvidia video card I have sufficient horsepower to drive lots of high-end programs at the same time...what makes the hints quit at a specific #? As a former IT guy, I'm befuddled. Updated note: I just rebuilt the DB and 424 is still the magic #. So it looks like DorianGray is not the only one with limitations. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. | | | Last edited: by mreeder50 |

Meaning you really showed all this 424 hints and then Profiler doesn't show anything on 425? Or did you just take spot checks until you run into the problem? cya, Mithi PS Using a thumbnails-only-layout I used the collection hints from day 1 and never run into such a problem. Although I'm not sure I ever looked at, let's say more than a 100 in one session. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

Update: Viewing by list or thumbnails it does not have the problem...only when viewed by details. It doesn't really bother me, it's just a curious thing, why? My guess is a limitation of the program and memory. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. | | | Last edited: by mreeder50 |

Confirmed, in "View as Details (Ctrl+F2)" sorted by Collection-Number I only get to #219 and it's unnumbered child-profiles, on #220 it doesn't show up. That makes 232 profiles out of 1390 that are shown. Sorted alphabetical ascending only shows the Collection Hints of the first 214 profiles, descending shows 239. Neither "View as Thumbnails" nor "View as List" show the same problem. I never use "View as Details", thats why I would never have encountered this error before. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

If it does, your problem is most likely located in a misconfigured SWAP-file and/or insufficient RAM size. I tried that, and no it doesn't appear. Not even after 30 seconds. And I have enough RAM in my system. | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Update: Viewing by list or thumbnails it does not have the problem...only when viewed by details. Same here. And it bothers me, because I use the hints to get a few informations I don't get from the details view (for example "Last Watched") | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Oh, okay. I was thinking it might give you hints about what to add to your collection - you know like if you own this movie, it recommends movies related to it. Then I was trying to figure out how it would do that. But I can't replicate the bug. Hovering over the cover picture in View as Details shows a little window like that. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield | | | Last edited: by Danae Cassandra |

| Posted: | | | | Hmm - now I can replicate it, but in reverse of the way you report it. It gives the window for the highest numbers in my collection, but not the lowest. #4417 - #3386 show the window.
Hmm - further interest - if I reverse the sorting of the numbers, #1 - #1085 show the window.
Very interesting. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
