I've had a few movies recently that when I've scanned the upc say there isn't a profile. So I used the case and amazon and populated a profile. Then when I went to contribute it, it already exists, from long ago. For the life of me I can't find those profiles then- searching by upc or title.
An example is The Hills Run Red.  The upc doesn't find any profile, and searching by title just gives me a old western. But if I go to contribute the one I created, ther already is a complete one.... confused!

I can also find it with both UPC and searching by title.

Out of interest in the add by title window what total dvd's (it's in the top left) figure do you see? I get 631,036.

As I understand it, he is entering the UPC, but Profiler is telling him it doesn't exist in the main db.  He creates the profile, as if new, tries to contribute, then sees that the profile does, in fact, exist.

How, exactly, does Profiler's ability to load a text file full of UPC codes help with that problem? 

That's bizarre, even filtering with your criteria in add by title I get six results. Three from the US, two from Australia and one from Belgium. Also the other UPC's you've listed return results for me.

The only thing I can think is the 'online profile list' (OnlineList.dod) is somehow corrupted, usually found in Users > User name > Appdata > Local > DVD Profiler (at least that's where it is on Win 8).

Not sure it'll mean much but might be worth checking it's last modified date. There used to be a way to force the prgram to do a full download of that file, rather than the small update it does normally. Ctrl and some key, but I can't remember which key it is. Hopefully somebody else will be able to remember as it'll be worth trying this.

The alternative I'd suggest is backup your database, File > Backup database, then uninstall profiler and delete any files left behind, before re-installing and restoring your database.

Because in the OP, he mentioned using a scanner, and if the scanner didn't load the #'s as if using a keyboard it wouldn't work. But sorry for suggesting something short of a complete removal of the program.
