When I startup DVDP on my Windows 7 desktop, it takes 1 minute and 20 seconds before it is fully up. I have about 1500 dvds in my DVDP catalog. I created a new database and cataloged 8 dvd-s and it took 116 seconds to start up. Anybody have any idea what is going wrong?
I am running Win7, 64-bit, on a Dell XPS 8500, i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHZ, with 9 GB RAM.

It took 40 seconds to open 15,938 titles.

So, it seems that it is taking too much time to open yours.

Have you tried a database repair? I always try this first if things don't seem to be working right.

Tools > Utilities > Repair Profile Database.

After doing a database repair as suchhested above, if this does not change anything, is there any lag with other programs when starting them for the first time after a system shutdown?

Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open your Task Manager and click on the Performance tab. How much memory is currently being used, and watching for a minute without doing anything else, are there are any great spikes or hovering highs above 2% to 5% under CPU Usage?

This is in line with my measurement result. All regions checked, Windows 7 32-bit, Profiler started from your usual SATA hard disk drive, without interfering software installations eg security suites, on an almost 5 year old machine (Core2 Quad, 4 GB RAM).

Windows 7 64-bit with 3000+ titles took 19 secs. to load.

Windows 7 x64, 8 GB RAM. 15 seconds to startup 3904 profiles.

But my Profiler database data is stored on an SSD drive.

My system is pretty old and a lot of things have improved. Example I could really use  USB 3 to My Book 2T drive for backup, a better graphic and more memory.

It took 90 seconds, 19,089 profiles this morning. That is with a fresh defrag, (0 fragged files), and system cleaned of clutter and some back ground programs removed before I put the computer to sleep last night.
DVD Profiler runs at  537,992K. I have two extra lists, Misc for duplicat film (blu-ray updates and one for lecture and courses), extra genre types and a lot of flags.

But it has taken up to 4 to 5 minutes with a dirty system. I usually know when going to happen and jack-up 'the profile'rs priority while it is loading.

Control Panel: Performance Information and Tools to get your computer performance rating. Mine is 5.1 to .9, except for graphics which I know needs to be upgraded, it is in the 3.5range.

I have increased the paging start and max size, because I usually run several programs when I'm building profiles and set the processor for best performance..

Under Advanced Tools there are some things to look at & try, but remember what you mess with so you can put it back.
