I am looking for some input on what type of Facebook integration people are looking for.

I assume that you would like events pushed to Facebook. When would you like them pushed (as they happen or all at once)? Do you want to control when they get pushed or should it happen automatically? Do you want them pushed only when you synch online?

Looking for any and all opinions. I posted the same questions in the IOS forum.

Personally, I'm not really interested by any Facebook integration, except if it is a way to have answers to ignored "Contact us" questions.

I could imagine something like "publish this DVD on Facebook as recently purchased" and on my FB page would be an image of the cover (as hosted by the online collection on Invelos).

I would be more interested in pushing what I watched than what I bought, especially if reviews get pushed with it.

I would like to see bought be pushed when we upload our online would be fine (When moved to owned... not ordered).

And the ability to choose to push watched (with review) when we watch it. In my opinion the watched shouldn't be automatically pushed... but an option to do so. As I may not want everything I watch each day to be published.

The option to push a "Watched" event to Facebook with optional review.  It makes sense to publish immediately.

Watched and purchased events. In regard to purchased, I would like to exclude the Want List and Ordered Tab.

I think it would make sense to have to option to choose between immediate push and user triggered push.

It's really a can of worms isn't it?  They took away the old app tabs, so you can't show recent purchases on your profile anymore.  All you have are wall posts.

I see two categories (assuming of course you've linked DVD Profiler to Facebook Connect in the desktop/mobile app):

Always publish Once you've turned this on, don't ask permission again
Publish by request When action is taken, provide a checkbox to publish (can default to last value)

Watched events  Always publish
Review Always publish
Add to collection Publish by request (via Personalize DVD dialog, per title)

I would stay away from events for loans.  Uncle Bob probably wouldn't want you spilling the beans about loaning him your copy Twilight: Eclipse.

Somehow you have to take "adult" genre/rated titles into consideration.  Even though you want to publish all your watches / reviews, I'm guessing when you watch your favorite porn title you won't want to publish that anywhere.  In fact you might consider not even allowing it (unless people cry censorship?).

With the number of users here who purchase boat loads of titles, I can't imagine they will want to tell the world about EVERY purchase they make.

I agree it would be nice to see the profile image of the title that was published, if that's legal to do of course.

Of course if you add Facebook Connect support, you might as well also add Twitter support.

And on the online collection (or in "My Profiler") there should be a place to publish a link to your Online Collection to both Facebook and Twitter.  Getting the word out about your collection should be integrated.

I'd like to have DVD Profiler and Facebook completely separated.

Same here, because I'm not a friend of this "social network"-mania and I don't participate in them.

But alot of users will like this kind of feature, so as long as it is strictly optional, I don't mind.

EDIT: And I hope there are features planned for the next version that are more exciting...

I am sure the whole thing will be optional. I mean if you don't want to use it you don't have to. It would seem simple enough to me that if you just don't link DVD Profiler with your facebook account... it just won't be used. I mean after all... not everyone has a facebook account to link with profiler anyway.

I'm fine as long as it's all optional.  While I do use Facebook and Twitter, I have no desire to announce to the world what I've purchase or watched.  None of my friends would care all that much I suspect.

I use an iPhone app called "Miso" that I use, and selectively I do publish to Facebook and Twitter, when I am watching a particular TV or movie.  Of course I don't publish it every time.

Many of you probably use Netflix... Do any of you have your Netflix account tied to your Facebook account?  When a new movie is shipped to my house, Netflix posts to my wall.  It's not selective though (it's always on).  Good thing I don't rent risqué titles right?

I suppose to make things simpler, if the user has gone into the options and linked their Facebook account to DVD Profiler, then make the publishing to Facebook always optional (again, only for "Watched", "Review", and "Add to collection" events).

Remember that when you publish this info to Facebook/Twitter it's a mini advertisement for DVD Profiler itself.

I would like a way to chose what is published.

I have several DVD friends that are as much of movie geeks as I am.

I have been using the trader link and upc to post to FB so far.

http://www.facebook.com/RobAGD

Actually just started doing it so there are only 6-7 post about the dvd's I have been watching or maybe buying.

But it would be kinda cool to get that integration.

I do participate in Facebook. But I want to keep my Facebook activity separate from the rest of my Internet activity. But with Facebook it is similar as with Google. If a websites integrates some of their features into their pages (e.g. a Facebook login or Google analytics), those data greedy companies can monitor too much personalised data of my activity on said website.

Yes, I know that Invelos already uses Google analytics and I do mind. And yes, I block it with NoScript. I'm not sure yet, if I could block a Facebook intergration (with Facebook elements on the Invelos site) as easy without disabling my real Facebook activity.

I'd like everything optional. I like JAFO's suggestions, as long as for each item can be personalized between always post and request each time. For me, I know I'd only publish every once in a while, but others may want it all the time. I know I have very different tastes than most of my friends and family and wouldn't want them seeing I watched...oh, let's say any of my Disney movies (I wouldn't hear the end of it from some people). But others that I would recommend I'd want to publish.
