| Posted: | | | | Depending on the success of the iPhone app, is it possible we could see a mac edition of DVD profiler? This would be great for me as I recently bought an iMac. One of the only things I'm still using my windows laptop for is DVD profiler. A Mac version of the program would be greatly appreciated, and successful in my opinion as their aren't many quality DVD programs available on the mac platform. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe with Version 4.0, but I wouldn't hope for a release before 2012. Until then running DVD Profiler in a virtual machine seems to be the best solution when you are stuck on a Mac. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm hoping for a Mac version as well. DVD Profiler is the only Windows program I still use. |

| Posted: | | | | I'd be willing to pay all over again for a mac version. I kept my windows laptop for ages just for DVD Profiler. I run it in a dual boot Windows now on my mac. It's the only program I boot into Windows for. Another reason I'm really looking forward to the iPhone version-- so I don't need to go into Windows as often. |

Now that he is familiar with the programing language, it may be more probable than ever before. But I wouldn't count on it anytime soon. Maybe I missed it, but when did Ken say he purchased a Mac to develop the iPhone version? Is a Mac required for that? I honestly don't know, which is why I am asking. As for the original question, from the FAQ: With apologies to our Mac fans, at this time there is no Macintosh version, and no firm plans to create a Mac version. Although we cannot provide support for this solution, many users successfully run DVD Profiler under Virtual PC on their Mac. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Speaking only for other software I've come across that have PC/Mac & iPod/iPhone/iPad versions, to date the creation software has only been on Mac. I'm not saying that that has to be the case, only what I've personally seen. |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, you need a Mac for any iDevice programming. I know because I've looked. I'd kill for the ability to do some programming for my phone, but alas, I'm a PC. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | Please come with a Mac or iPhone version, I am also willing to pay again for it. Dvd Profiler is the top and indeed I also use an old windows version on an old notebook to keep using the program. |

| Posted: | | | | Uhm, or iPhone version? You are aware that Ken has already announced this??? And I guess it will be released soon!!! The MAC version is a total different story, I would not expect that before 2012... | | | Last edited: by Izo |

| Posted: | | | | I would be more than happy to pay an extra $15-20 for a mac version. I think it would benefit Invelos extremely as the Mac DVD catalog programs are very, very weak. I've tried DVDPedia and Delicious, but both suck compared to DVD Profiler.
With the Mac app store in development, I think that DVD cataloging is still a relativity untapped goldmine for developers who can put out a product that actually works well. |

| Posted: | | | | Is there a specific programming language that works across Win and MacOSX though?
Outside of something like adobe air? (due to it being fairly sandboxed)? |

But I don't know if it is the most efficient language for such a complex database program. If I remember correctly, a program of such complexity would be really sluggish. |

I am not impressed with the language (it's simply not keeping up with .NET), but performance hasn't been a problem for years. With regards to complexity, DVD Profiler is actually extremely simple, but even complex applications performs fine with Java. But as with any language, if you do not know what you are doing, you can easily end up with something that doesn't perform. | | | Regards Lars |
